The Ministry of Interior has announced vacant positions within the Peace Building and Conflict Management Directorate and the Government Reception Services.
In a statement dated May 21, the Ministry of Interior asked interested and qualified Kenyans to submit their applications before the deadline.Â
Positions available as announced include Secretary, Director, Deputy Director, Assistant Director, and Senior Principal Lecturer. According to government sources, the recruitment process is being conducted to boost the delivery of services, especially those critical to national stability, conflict resolution, and the coordination of state activities.
The Department of Correctional Services, led by Salome Beacco, has also advertised several posts in the Probation Department as the government seeks to enhance rehabilitation and offender management services.
The available job opportunities are for Secretary, Deputy Director, and Assistant Director positions.
A significant number of postings are for the Deputy Director of Probation position, in line with the government’s efforts to emphasize rehabilitation, offender management, and community-based corrections.
This recruitment exercise is taking place at a time when the government has embarked on reforms geared towards improving the correctional services, reducing recidivism, and emphasizing rehabilitation.
The government is currently stepping up its measures to enhance its peace and security infrastructure in areas where there have been cases of tribal clashes, insecurity, and social unrest.
On the other hand, the government is looking forward to strengthening its rehabilitation services to mitigate the problem of recidivism and reintegrate ex-offenders into the community.

Qualifications
Individuals seeking positions such as Director of Peace Building and Conflict Management are expected to have up to 18 years of experience, with at least 3 years in a similar senior post.
In addition, one should have a bachelor’s degree in peace and conflict studies, political science, law, sociology, or international relations. One should also have a master’s degree in these subjects for higher-level positions, plus a leadership course of at least four weeks from an accredited institution.
There should be progressive career advancement for individuals working in the public sector. Individuals seeking mid-level positions are expected to have 10 to 12 years of experience, while those seeking higher posts, such as Deputy Director, are expected to have at least 15 years of experience in the public service sector. Additionally, applicants are expected to show excellent administrative and management skills.
Candidates are also expected to demonstrate an appreciation of the national priorities, considering their alignment with the vision of Vision 2030 of Kenya. This demonstrates the importance the Government places on leadership through policies in areas like peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and probation.
Generally, the requirements emphasize a systematic approach where emphasis is laid on academic background, leadership training, and wide experience within public service.
