The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has taken over investigations into the alleged abduction of businessman Jimmy Mutava in Mlolongo.
In a statement on August 2, DCI said the matter was reported at Mlolongo Police Station on July 27, 2026, prompting detectives from the DCI Anti-Abduction Unit to take charge of the case.
The agency said investigations are ongoing, with detectives pursuing several persons of interest as they seek to establish the circumstances surrounding the reported incident.

Witnesses Recount Moments Before Mlolongo Businessman Disappeared
A neighbor who witnessed the events leading to the alleged abduction of Mlolongo businessman Jimmy Mutava has described how the incident unfolded within a short period at Bijou Hotel.

Gerald Ouma said he was at the scene when he noticed commotion outside and saw a person being held near a double-cabin vehicle. He added that a person claiming to be a police officer told bystanders they were conducting an official operation.
“This happened at around 2 pm. We were at Bijou. I had gone to wash my car. We suddenly heard noise outside. When we went out, we found a double-cabin vehicle and someone being held. Then a police officer came out and said they were on official duty,” Ouma said.
Family Raises Questions Over Disappearance
Mutava’s wife, Margaret Mutuku, said her husband had appeared fearful in the days before his disappearance. She said he had informed her that there was an issue ongoing but did not explain what it was.
Mutuku alleged that Jimmy Mutava was contacted by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) of Mlolongo Police Station and left to meet him at Bijou Hotel, where the two were reportedly in conversation before the incident.

“For several days, he had been worried. He told me there was an issue going on, but he did not tell me what the issue was,” Mutuku said.
She further alleged that while Jimmy Mutava and the OCS were talking, masked individuals attacked him, took him away by force and drove off in a vehicle. Local village elder Paul Ndinda said the family searched throughout the night but could not find him.
Athi River West Sub-County Police Commander Anderson Mbae confirmed that a formal report had been filed and that investigations were ongoing.
Mbae, however, stated that Jimmy Mutava was not being held by the police. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has since taken over the matter, with detectives pursuing persons of interest as they seek to establish the circumstances surrounding the reported incident.
