A fresh warning has been issued to motorists ahead of the planned June 25 protests, with a security company, Securex Agencies, raising concerns about possible disruptions in major urban centers.
According to Securex Agencies, organizers under the #HakiSasa and #JusticeNow campaigns have mobilized marches across the country to commemorate the protests that culminated in the storming of Parliament on June 25, 2024.
“Organizers under the #HakiSasa and #JusticeNow campaigns have mobilized nationwide marches for June 25 to mark the anniversary of the 2024 anti-Finance Bill protests,” the agency noted.
The advisory noted that police have maintained that no authorization has been granted for the June 25 Protests and have warned that the planned protests will not be permitted.
As a result, heightened security deployments are expected in several urban centers, including Nairobi.
Authorities anticipate possible disruptions to traffic flow, business operations, public services and learning institutions in areas likely to be affected by the demonstrations and security operations.
