Kenyan youth will in the next few days get Ksh50,000 each to boost their businesses through a NYOTA program.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs is set to launch an ambitious program next week dubbed the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement Project (NYOTA).
According to the ministry’s CS Kipchumba Murkomen, the project intends to empower 820,000 unemployed youths across Kenya.
Further, he said that the five-year initiative is designed to address youth unemployment by providing practical skills through apprenticeships and fostering entrepreneurship.
“Next week, we are rolling out a similar program in our ministry dubbed the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement Project (NYOTA).”
“Which aims to equip youth with employable skills through apprenticeships,” said Murkomen during the Kericho County Vocational Training Centres graduation ceremony.

Murkomen also said that the project will use structured apprenticeships to help young people acquire marketable skills.
He noted that the move will lead to an increase in their employability. Additionally, the program aims to nurture entrepreneurial spirit by supporting 100,000 youth with business ideas.
Each aspiring entrepreneur will receive a start-up capital grant of Ksh50,000 to either launch or expand their businesses.

“The 5-year project targets to empower 820,000 unemployed youths. On top of that, 100,000 youths with business ideas will benefit from a start-up capital of Ksh 50,000 each to start or boost existing businesses,” added Murkomen.

1100 Jobs in Saudi Arabia
Earlier, Labour Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua announced 600 jobs for boda boda riders and 500 nannies in Dubai.
In a statement, the CS stated that officials from a United Arab Emirates company would be in Kenya the following week to interview and hire the motorcycle riders.
Further, the notice indicated that for 26 working days a month, the riders would receive a salary of 2,925 dirhams (approximately 104,000 Kenyan shillings, tax-free).
Additionally, a Saudi Arabian Human Resource team is in Kenya to employ 500 female Nannies for their company.
Interested applicants require a certificate, diploma, or degree in any field, at least 1 year of experience in childcare and be able to assist children with mobility and ensure their overall welfare.
