Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki on Monday, May 16, announced his decision to take a break from elective politics after missing out on the nomination for Kenya Kwanza alliance’s presidential running mate in the forthcoming August 9, general elections.
In addition, Kindiki stated that after joining the William Ruto-led UDA Party, he had decided to disengage himself from county politics to focus on national politics. However, his ambition did not materialize after Kenya Kwanza selected Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua to be the DPs running mate.
According to him, this brief disruption of his career will not stop him from supporting the UDA Party and the Kenya Kwanza alliance in the run-up to the August elections.
“My attempt at being nominated to ascend to a national elective leadership position having failed yesterday, I have taken a decision to take a break from elective politics starting 10th of August 2022,” “I will use the break to reorganize myself as I continue to fully support my party UDA and Kenya Kwanza administration to deliver to Kenyans upon assuming office.” said Kindiki.
Moreover, Kithure Kindiki added that he will be available to offer his services more strongly in the field and boardroom to ensure no votes that Kenya Kwanza can mobilize remain out there
“After prayerful soul-searching and reflection, I have decided to remain a loyal and faithful member our party UDA and the Kenya Kwanza alliance. I will continue to play my role in the campaign and subordinate myself to the leadership of our party including my former competitor who is now the deputy president-designate for our coalition and country,” said Kindiki.
Nonetheless, Senator Kindiki reported that he would not be seeking any appointive position, but would instead maintain his focus on serving the country on a national elective seat.
“After prayerful reflection and consultation, I have decided I will not be seeking for any appointive position whatsoever. However, I will remain available to my country in future should an opportunity arise to seek leadership positions that may be available at the national level in future. That future I don’t know when it will be,” said Kindiki.
