KUCCPS Cut Off Points for Medicine-Related Courses and Universities Offering Them

Kenya Universities and Colleges Placement Service (KUCCPS) Offers Degree programs in the Medicine cluster spanning a wide range of health and medical fields.

These include Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Clinical Medicine, among others.

However, before applying to any of these programmes, a student must first understand the cut-off points listed by KUCCPS.

KUCCPS Cut Off Points for Medicine-Related Courses

Bachelor of Pharmacy

Bachelor of Pharmacy remains one of the most competitive courses, with universities recording high cut-off points across the board.

At Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, the programme has the highest recent cut-off point at 43.697, followed closely by the University of Nairobi at 43.457.

Kenyatta University posts 43.381, while Maseno University, which offers the Bachelor of Pharmacy with IT programme, records a cut-off of 42.967.

Meanwhile, Mount Kenya University posts a cut-off of 42.484, while Kisii University, Kabarak University, and Kenya Methodist University record cut-offs of 42.776, 41.648, and 39.918, respectively.

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) cut-off points remain high across universities in the latest placement data.

The University of Nairobi has 44.926, followed by Kenyatta University with 44.904, and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology with 44.834.

Maseno University lists 44.602, as Egerton University and Mount Kenya University each have 44.504.

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology shows 44.16, while Kisii University has 44.149.

Technical University of Mombasa shows 43.734, as Pwani University lists 43.048.

Kenya Methodist University,  Uzima University, and Moi University list 43.076, 41.734, and 42.066, respectively.

Bachelor of Science Nursing

Bachelor of Science in Nursing cut-off points vary across universities, according to the latest placement data.

The Egerton University has 42.049, while Maseno University follows with 41.836, and the University of Nairobi stands at 41.935.

Mount Kenya University lists 41.325, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology lists 41.614, and Kisii University lists 41.164.

Chuka University records 41.023, while Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology lists 40.358, and the University of Embu has 40.171.

Kabarak University shows 40.468, Dedan Kimathi University of Technology shows 40.07, and the University of Kabianga lists 40.003.

Pwani University has 39.838, while Kibabii University also lists 39.838, and Karatina University shows 39.658.

Kirinyaga University stands at 39.372, South Eastern Kenya University at 39.342, and Tharaka University at 39.715.

Murang’a University of Technology shows 39.052, Kaimosi Friends University 39.061, and Alupe University 39.156.

Meru University of Science and Technology lists 38.64, while Kenya Methodist University has 38.665.

Catholic University of Eastern Africa shows 39.609, St. Paul’s University 37.623, and Daystar University 37.512.

Presbyterian University of East Africa lists 36.671, Uzima University lists 36.484, and Great Lakes University of Kisumu lists 36.19.

Kenya Highlands Evangelical University stands at 35.725, while Zetech University lists 35.955, and Lukenya University has 28.948.

Biomedical Science and Technology

Cut-off points for biomedical science and technology programmes vary across universities.

The Egerton University has 35.041, while the Technical University of Kenya lists 35.596, and Chuka University stands at 34.106.

Kisii University shows 33.536, while Laikipia University shows 30.791, and the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton uses the 2023 cut-off of 24.733, as 2024 data is unavailable.

Medical Laboratory Sciences

Entry requirements for medical laboratory science programmes vary across universities.
Kenyatta University lists 38.844, the University of Nairobi lists 38.753, and Maseno University lists 38.368.

Mount Kenya University shows 38.535, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology shows 40.314, and Kisii University lists 38.05.

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology records 37.268, while Alupe University shows 36.185, and South Eastern Kenya University stands at 36.32.

Tom Mboya University uses the 2023 cut-off of 35.208 in the absence of 2024 data, while Murang’a University of Technology lists 34.746, and Moi University uses the 2023 figure of 34.368.

Meru University of Science and Technology shows 35.249, while Karatina University uses the 2023 cut-off of 30.11, and the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton lists 31.769.

Occupational Health and Therapy

Cut-off points for occupational health and related courses vary across universities.

Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology has 33.138, while Kenyatta University stands at 29.453, and Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology lists 27.53.

Presbyterian University of East Africa uses the 2023 cut-off of 15.864.

Animal Health and Production

Cut-off points for animal health and production programmes vary across Kenyan universities.

Chuka University records 23.177, while Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology lists 15.864, and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology stands at 32.819.

Mount Kenya University shows 15.864.

Animal Science

Cut-off points for animal science programmes vary widely.

Egerton University has the highest points at 22.376, while Kisii University,  Tharaka University, and the University of Eldoret stand at 15.864.

Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Moi University records, Kratina University, and Maseno University also list 15,864.

Human Nutrition and Dietetics

Entry requirements for human nutrition and dietetics programmes vary widely.

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, Kenya Methodist University, Karatina University, and Chuka University show 15,864.

Kabarak University and Meru University of Science and Technology also list 15.864, while Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology stands at 29.165.

Physiotherapy

Cut-offs for physiotherapy programmes are highly competitive.

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology has 35.383, while Amref International University lists 27.517, and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology records 38.322.

Great Lakes University of Kisumu shows 15.864.

Medical Engineering

Cut-offs for medical engineering programmes vary.

Kirinyaga University has 26.456, while the Technical University of Mombasa lists 34.178.

Health Records and Informatics

Entry requirements for health records and informatics programmes range widely.

Rongo University shows 15.864, while St. Paul’s University lists 15.864, and Meru University of Science and Technology records 24.064.

Kenyatta University has 25.274, as Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology lists 24.418, and Maseno University stands at 22.591.

Clinical Medicine

Cut-offs for clinical medicine and community health programmes remain high.

Kabarak University lists 38.974, Egerton University lists 42.413, and Kisii University lists 40.772.

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology records 39.623, while Kirinyaga University lists 38.941, and Murang’a University of Technology shows 40.055.

Karatina University lists 39.314, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology lists 42.949, and the University of Kabianga lists 40.035.

Uzima University shows 34.686, while Kaimosi Friends University,  Mount Kenya University, and Meru University list 38.686, 40.654, and 40.299, respectively.

Great Lake University of Kisumu has the second-lowest cut-off points of  34.643.

Forensic Science

Cut-off points for forensic science programmes vary significantly.

Kirinyaga University has 15.863, while  Kenyatta University lists 28.618.

Veterinary Medicine and Surgery

Entry into veterinary medicine and surgery remains competitive.

Egerton University lists a cut-off of 36.836, while the University of Nairobi records 37.826.
