The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has invited applications for training opportunities at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions. The application portal opened on Friday, January 24, 2025.
In a press release dated the same day, KUCCPS invited 2024 KCSE candidates to apply for placement at their preferred KMTC and TVET colleges.
“Form four leavers who sat their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination in 2024 can now apply for placement to KMTC and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges of their choice,” read the statement.
The placement service said it has adopted a phased application process for the first time, starting with Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) and the TVET colleges, to allow students enrolling for the March intake to apply on time. The portal will remain open for 21 days and close on 14 February 2025.”

KUCCPS CEO, Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome, explained that the phased application process was introduced to address the varying intake schedules of different institutions. She highlighted that this approach ensures students transitioning to colleges like KMTC and TVETs can do so without delays.
“Universities and Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) normally have their intakes later in the year while KMTC and TVETs admit theirs in January, March and May, hence the need to have a phased application process to enable students transition to colleges promptly,” says KUCCPS CEO Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome.
Eligible Groups for The Placement Service Applications
Form Four leavers who sat the KCSE examination from the year 2000 to 2024 are eligible to apply for the slots. Applications for degree programmes and TTCs will follow thereafter at dates that will be announced.
Candidates who will re-sit their KCSE examination this year will also have an opportunity to apply for KMTC and TVET programmes, using their improved grades, for the September intake.
Dr. Wahome noted that there was an increase in training opportunities both in TVET institutions and KMTC. For instance, KMTC has availed opportunities in 90 campuses in 2025, compared to 87 in 2024.
Three new KMTC campuses were opened recently in Kerio Valley, Marimanti and Marsabit.

KMTC has also increased the number of campuses offering popular courses such as Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (49 campuses), Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery (30 campuses), Certificate in Community Health Assistant (47 campuses) and Certificate in Health Records and Information Technology (36 campuses).
Similarly, over 260 TVET institutions including university TVET institutes, national polytechnics and other TVET institutions under the Ministry of Education as well as TVETS under other line ministries are available for application.
“We encourage applicants to select TVET institutions and KMTC campuses within their localities as this will make it cheaper for them to operate from their homes,” said Dr. Wahome.
Noting KMTC’s recent additions, including programmes in Community Health and new diplomas in Health Insurance Management and Mortuary Science, Dr. Wahome urged students to take advantage of the opportunities.
Detailed application guidelines and requirements are available on the KUCCPS portal (students.kuccps.net) and website (www.kuccps.ac.ke).
Applications can only be submitted online, and applicants are urged to avoid online fraudsters. KUCCPS will provide support through a national exercise involving designated colleges and Huduma Centres in all 47 counties.
