List of Hospitals Per County Offering Inpatient and Maternity Care for Teachers Under SHA [Full List]

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) announced that more than 400,000 teachers across the country will move to the Social Health Authority (SHA), which has replaced the existing Minet scheme, effective December 1, 2025.

Teachers will be enrolled in the Public Officers Medical Cover, a scheme popular with civil servants.

The decision follows a consultative meeting between TSC, the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), and SHA officials, where the benefits of the new scheme were discussed.

Under the new program, teachers will have access to outpatient and inpatient services, as well as specialized care such as dental and optical services, annual check-ups, ambulance services for both road and air emergencies, and overseas treatment, among other benefits.

SHA Registered Hospitals Per County Offering Inpatient and Maternity Care for Teachers

In Baringo County, teachers can access inpatient and maternity services at Eldama Ravine Nursing Home (2), Ravine Glory Healthcare Services (6), and Tionycare Hospital Limited (1), bringing the total to 9 facilities.

While in Bomet County, services are available at Longisa County Referral Hospital (1) and Siloam Hospital Ltd Bomet (1), making a total of 2 facilities.

Bungoma County has Bungoma West Hospital (18) and Calvary Hope Medical Centre (1), for a total of 19 facilities.

In Elgeyo Marakwet County, teachers can access care at Iten County Referral Hospital (5).

Embu County has Neema Universal Health Care Limited–Embu Town (1), while Homa Bay County offers services at Oasis Doctors Plaza Homa Bay (1).

In Kajiado County, facilities include Caregivers Community Hospital (6), Kimana Ultracare Hospital Limited (1), Sinai Hospital Rongai Ltd (2), and The White Crescent Hospital (2), totaling 11.

Kakamega County has Kakamega County General Hospital (1) and St. Elizabeth Mission Hospital Mukumu (2), for a total of 3 facilities.

In Kericho County, teachers can access AIC Litein Hospital (7), Siloam Hospital Limited–Medical Centre Kericho (7), St Clare’s Kaplong Mission Hospital (6), and St. Leonards Hospital (1), totaling 21 facilities.

Kiambu County offers care at AIC Kijabe Hospital (2), Lifecare Hospital Limited–Kikuyu (2), and Nueva Esperanza Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre Limited (22), making a total of 26 facilities.

In Kilifi County, teachers can use Kijanaheri Medical Centre (1), Kilifi County Referral Hospital (1), and Mephi Health Services (1), totaling 3 facilities.

Kirinyaga County has Mary Immaculate Kerugoya Hospital (2), Mt. Kenya Ack Hospital (1), and Our Lady of Lourdes Mwea Hospital (3), for a total of 6 facilities.

In Kisii County, services are provided at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (3), Mediforte Hospital Limited (1), Oasis Specialist Hospital (7), and Ram Hospital Ltd, Kisii (1), totaling 12 facilities.

In Murang’a County, teachers can access inpatient and maternity services at Assumption of Mary Ithanga Catholic Hospital (1), Edinburgh Mountain Hospital Limited (24), Kiriaini Mission Hospital (1), and Lilly Medihealth Mediva Wellness Centre (1), for a total of 27 facilities.

Nairobi County facilities include Chiromo Lane Medical Centre (3), Kenyatta National Hospital (23), Komarock Modern Healthcare Utawala (6), Langata Hospital Ltd (1), Lifebridge Cottage Hospital Limited (1), Mikulinzi Nursing Home (1), Nairobi Mental Health Services (1), Reale Hospital Utawala Limited (8), Royal Victory Hospital (7), South B Hospital Ltd (1), and Texas Cancer Centre Nairobi West (1), making a total of 53.

In Nakuru County, teachers can use AIC Kijabe Hospital–Naivasha Medical Centre (1), Alexandria Cancer Centre and Palliative Hospital Limited (1), and The Nakuru Specialist Hospital Ltd (Cancer & Infectious Disease) (2), totaling 4 facilities.

Nandi County has Alpha Hill Medical Center Limited (3).

In Nyamira County, services are offered at Medstops Healthcare Kenya (1), Medstops Healthcare Kenya Limited–Ikonge (1), and Nyamira County Referral Hospital (2), for a total of 4 facilities.

Nyandarua County has Charity Medical Hospital (3), Engineer County Hospital (1), and North Kinangop Catholic Hospital (3), totaling 7 facilities.

In Nyeri County, teachers can access Consolata Hospital Mathari (12) and PCEA Tumutumu Mission Hospital (4), for a total of 16 facilities.

Siaya County offers care at Haven Hospital Bondo (2) and Oasis Health Siaya (1), totaling 3 facilities.

In Tana River County, services are available at Suheyla Pharmaceuticals & Medical Centre (1).

Tharaka Nithi County has Komarock Modern Healthcare–Chuka (2) and PCEA Chogoria Hospital (3), making a total of 5 facilities.
