Former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has announced his plan to vie for the Gatundu South parliamentary seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket.
In a statement on February 4, 2026, Moses Kuria confirmed that he had registered as an aspirant to vie for the Gatundu South Member of Parliament seat in Kiambu County.
The former senior economic advisor to President William Ruto explained that being a member of parliament is the most important position he could hold if he plans to win the presidential seat in Kenya in the next five years.
“The parliament is the head of the snake, while the government is the tail,” Moses Kuria explained, as he hailed Parliament as the arm capable of making decisions, passing bills and budgets, making it the most important when it comes to government.
Kuria went on to explain that he would be in a better position to drive more development as a member of parliament than when he was a cabinet secretary or a presidential advisor. The parliament, he said, has more power to influence the people.
Successful developments and achievements by Moses Kuria
Defending his track record during his past tenure as Gatundu South MP, Moses Kuria stated that he had influenced several development projects in the Constituency. This included the construction of a 400-kilometre road, classes and dormitories, and two CDF-funded medical colleges, the Mama Ngina University, and Technical Vocational Training facilities.
In addition to infrastructural development, Moses Kuria stated that he also ensured that 98% of the citizens had electricity, 72% were supplied with water. All these developments, he noted, provided a strong infrastructure in Gatundu South.

Reasons why Moses Kuria wants to be a member of parliament
“I am a national person, and being a member of parliament will help me to travel from Mombasa to Garissa, Kitui to everywhere else,” Moses Kuria explained.
The former Gatundu South legislator stated that he has chosen to vie on the UDA ticket following former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s comments accusing him of hiding behind his party, Chama Cha Kazi, which he formed five years ago. He explained that he dissolved his party because he cannot play the political game alone, and that being in charge alone is draining.
“I am not a blue wheelbarrow, I am a yellow wheelbarrow, I am not Kasongo’s sack, I am Kasongo himself,” Kuria responded to Gachagua on the matters of his political affiliation.
Moses Kuria also called out communities in the Mount Kenya region, accusing them of failing to support the growth of their own tribe.

Moses Kuria stated that he is ready to launch the next phase of development for the people of Gatundu South. He explained that the infrastructural development was the base, and now he will launch the software.
The software phase of development, according to Moses Kuria, is ensuring that the people of Gatundu South have money in their pockets, schools have good performance, and investors invest in Gatundu South.
“You cannot expect to find a bull owner trying to milk,” Kuria stated as he discussed how the parliamentary seat is a step towards preparing for his future as the president of the Republic of Kenya.
