His family arrived at the morgue on Wednesday, July 17, only to find that their kin had been recorded as an unidentified/unknown person from Juja.

Even though the family confirmed Owino’s identity, they were told that they must submit a police OB report for the government to conduct a post-mortem exam to determine the cause of death.

Additionally, two bodies of victims of the protests were also recorded inaccurately.

Family Asks Govt for Help

Meanwhile, the family of Charles Owino has appealed to the government to cover burial cost of their kin.

According to the family, the 19-year-old met his death when on his way to get medicine from a shop nearby.

The family said Owino had arrived in Kitengela on Sunday, July 14, from Kibra where he was staying with her sister.

They stated that Owino lost his way to a pharmacy during the intense clashes between the police and protesters and found himself in the demonstrations.

“The police opened fire from behind and the bullet caught my brother killing him on the spot,” the brother said.

His sister whom he was staying with in Kibra expected the diseased to return next week after his visit to Kitengela.

Owino has stayed in Kibra for only three weeks having arrived from Siaya County where he was a student.
