Education CS Julius Ogamba Addresses Resigning from Ruto’s Cabinet

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has denied resigning from President William Ruto’s Cabinet on the evening of Monday, January 10.

In a statement, the Education CS dismissed a circulating resignation message on social media as fake, clarifying that it originated from an impersonation on an X account.

“Beware of a fake X account purporting to be the Cabinet Secretary of Education,” read the statement.

The misleading post that Ogamba dismissed alleged he had resigned due to the current wave of abductions witnessed in the country.

Ogamba denies Resigning from President Ruto’s Government

The fake letter claimed the Education CS was disturbed by the recent cases of abductions, disappearances, and killings, which had left many families in anguish and fear.

It criticized the government’s failure to ensure justice and accountability, accusing it of allowing impunity to thrive.

The letter further stated that, as a leader, Ogamba felt compelled to stand for justice, equality, and the protection of human rights, suggesting his resignation was a protest against the government’s inaction.

“My resignation is not an act of defeat but a declaration of my unwavering commitment to the people of Kenya,” the fake letter added.

The letter also claimed that Ogamba’s resignation did not mark the end of his service to the country but that he would continue to fight for justice, equality, and the rights of every Kenyan, even from outside the government.

It further stated that Ogamba remained committed to the cause of education and would continue championing the empowerment of future generations, emphasizing the importance of an educated and empowered nation.

The letter concluded with Ogamba thanking Kenyans for placing their trust in him during his tenure, expressing gratitude and a renewed determination to work for a better Kenya.

Peter Mbae resigns as Head of Government Delivery Service

Ogamba’s dismissal of the fake resignation letter came hours after President Ruto’s Head of Government Delivery Services Peter Mbae resigned.

Mbae submitted his resignation to the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, Felix Koskei.

He stated that his decision was driven by unresolved concerns he had repeatedly raised.

“Despite my passion, focus and consistency, for reasons and issues that I have consistently brought to your attention and have not been resolved to date, it has not been possible to carry out my duties as intended and my position as Head of Government Delivery Services is no longer tenable,” he said.

At the same time, Public Service CS Justin Muturi has called out President Ruto for presiding over injustices, particularly the rampant abductions in the country.
