Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura has been receiving criticism from a section of the State House Communications team.
In a statement, Sam Terriz, a member of the State House communications team, alleged that Mwaura has failed to deliver any meaningful impact or tangible outcomes in the President’s communication strategy.
“Rather than focusing on his responsibilities, he has spent his tenure stoking unnecessary conflicts, undermining his colleagues Gabriel Muthuma and Mwanaisha Chudzuga, and engaging in petty disputes with both seniors and juniors.
His penchant for spreading misinformation and issuing contradictory statements has done more harm than good, eroding public confidence in the very government he is meant to represent,” part of the statement read.
Mwaura allegedly removed from one of Statehouse WhatsApp Groups
According to Terriz, it has become increasingly evident that Mwaura’s actions do not align with the President’s agenda or the administration’s goals.
He further claimed that his actions seem to be a deliberate effort to boost his own profile while undermining important government initiatives, stating that such behavior is not only unprofessional but also harmful to national progress.
Terriz added that removing Mwaura from his position would help restore credibility to the office and safeguard the government’s broader objectives from unnecessary derailment.
The statement follows reports that Mwaura was removed from the State House Communications team WhatsApp group.
His alleged removal has raised questions about the state of his relationship with the President’s inner circle.

Mwaura’s removal has been linked to his perceived association with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and issuing statements that contradicted the official government position.
Recently, some Catholic Church clerics, including bishops, issued a joint statement accusing the state of perpetuating a culture of lies.
In response to their criticism, several government initiatives released a rebuttal to the Catholic bishops’ statement, something that rarely happens.

Reports suggest that this matter angered some communication experts within the State House, as Mwaura failed to provide a unified statement addressing the Catholic clerics’ criticism.
Former Senator under fire for issuing contradicting statements
During the June anti-Finance Bill protests, the Government Spokesperson issued statements that contradicted the President regarding the alleged sponsors of the protests.
President William Ruto claimed that a charity-based organization, the Ford Foundation, was funding the Gen Z protests. On the other hand, Mwaura implied that the Russian government and other institutions were behind the protests.

“The other day, he talked about the Russian invasion and how it has disrupted Kenya’s access to grains and wheat. Some people are not happy with that. He has been calling for a change in the financial architecture, but they don’t want us to get out of that slavery,” Mr. Mwaura said.
Reports also claim that Mwaura is part of Gachagua allies that the Kenya Kwanza government administration is keen to purge from Key state institutions after Gachagua was ousted from the Deputy President position.
