The former Communications Director of the Kenya Bankers Association (KBA), Nuru Mugambi has passed on. In a statement, KBA announced her death who was their former colleague.
“It is with deep sadness that we learn of the passing of Ms. Nuru Mugambi, our former Director of Communication and Public Affairs,” part of the statement read.
The Bankers Association passed message of condolences to her family.
“We extend our deepest condolences to Nuru’s family, friends, relatives and all who had the privilege of working with her. Her dedication and leadership will not be forgotten,” the statement read.
Nuru Mugambi’s Achievements in the Banking Industry
According to the statement by the Bankers Association Nuru succumbed after she had a long battle with Lupus.
Nuru played a pivotal role at the Kenya Bankers Association for ten years where she led transformative initiatives that not only shaped the future of the banking industry in Kenya but also had a lasting impact globally.
Her leadership in projects such as the Banking Industry Sustainable Finance Initiative and the Persons with Disability Initiative was instrumental in driving positive change and inclusivity within the financial services sector.

Nuru’s name became a household name in the banking sector when she was the youngest woman to earn the title of Fellow of the Kenya Institute of Bankers for industry excellence and leadership.
In 2016, she was recognized by the Eisenhower Fellowship programs and former US President Barrack Obama as an emerging African leader.
She has also received prestigious award called Sheth International Alumni Award for Exceptional Achievement Issued by Georgia State University in November 2021.

Previous places where the Communications Director worked
Besides working for KBA, Nuru has been a part-time advisor to the Sustainable Banking and Finance Network from January 2023 to the present.
She has also served as a board member for the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) under the Economic Diplomacy and Sector Board from January 2022 to the present.

Nuru also worked as a venture capital and private equity women founder and advisor in Astia’s women-owned portfolio companies.
Other institutions that Nuru worked at include Kenya Industry and Entrepreneurship Project, Angaza Forum, Ethics Commission for Cooperative Societies, Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, Barclays Bank and Georgia Pacific Corporation.
