Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi on Monday, December 23, clarified an incident involving a woman named Joyce Waithera, who alleged that she was pushed by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, resulting in a spinal injury.
Havi initially posted a video showing Waithera narrating her story to him, claiming that the altercation caused her severe injuries.
However, in a subsequent statement, Havi urged the public to disregard her claims, labelling them false.
“I have spoken to CS Kipchumba Murkomen on this matter. I have also checked Waithera Njihia’s claims with the UDA offices and Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH). I have ascertained that she is a conwoman. She neither composed the song nor was she assaulted by the CS. Her case is therefore dismissed,” Havi stated.

She claimed to have been admitted to KNH’s Ward 6C for three months, during which she accrued unpaid medical bills totaling Ksh209,000.
According to Waithera, her injuries required ongoing follow-up care, supported by attached documents, including medical invoices and hospital records, as evidence of her treatment and expenses.

“I was a campaigner for William Ruto and also released a song titled Kenya Kwanza during the campaign period.
I went to the UDA offices when the then-Deputy President was launching his manifesto. Murkomen pulled me, and I fell, which caused a spinal injury. Murkomen knows this story,” Waithera alleged.
She further claimed that when the public was invited to submit complaints against Cabinet Secretary nominees during their vetting by the National Assembly, she filed a petition opposing Murkomen’s appointment.

She alleged that the petition, supported by documents substantiating her claims, was acknowledged by the parliamentary office.
“I submitted my complaint against Murkomen during the vetting process and received a stamped letter from Parliament. I was assured the matter would be addressed, but to my surprise, it never was,” she said.
Waithera’s allegations have sparked mixed reactions, with Havi strongly refuting her claims and urging the public not to give them credence.
