The Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Agriculture Mutahi Kagwe and the Investment, Trade, and Industry CS, Lee Kinyanjui, made several state appointments on Friday, January 17, just hours after being sworn into office.
In a gazette notice, CS Kagwe announced appointments to various state parastatals. He appointed five individuals as members of the National Livestock Development and Promotion Service.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 6 (1) (e) of the National Livestock Development and Promotion Service Order, 2016, the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development appoints,” the notice stated.
The new appointees include those of Dr. Hassan Guyo Roba, Erukudi Chris Ekustan, Aloise Loitomaga, Ubah Gedi Ibrahim, and Justine Simayiai Rakita. They will serve for a term of three years, effective January 17, 2025.

Additionally, CS Kagwe appointed Adhan Sheikh Abdullahi as a member of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Sugar Board for a three-year term, effective the same date.
In a related development, Lee Kinyanjui, the former Nakuru Governor and current Cabinet Secretary for Investment, Trade, and Industry, appointed Allan Kosgey as the non-executive Chairperson of the Board of the Kenya Industrial Property Institute for a three-year term.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 6 (a) of the Industrial Property Act, 2001, the Cabinet Secretary for Industrialization, Trade, and Enterprise Development appoints Allan Kosgey to be the non-executive Chairperson of the Board of the Kenya Industrial Property Institute, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from January 17, 2025,” the notice read.
Meanwhile, President William Ruto also made key appointments. In a gazette notice dated Friday, January 17, Ruto appointed former Gender and Affirmative Action CS Aisha Jumwa as the non-executive Chairperson of the Kenya Roads Board (KRB).
Ruto appoints politicians Jumwa and Bosire in latest appointments
Jumwa will serve for three years, effective January 17, 2025, replacing Ahmed Kolosh Mohamed, whose appointment was revoked.
Additionally, Ruto appointed former Kilifi County Speaker Jimmy Kadhua Kahindi as the Chairperson of the Kenya Fishing Industries Corporation for a three-year term.

The head of state also appointed Timothy Bosire, the National Treasurer for ODM and former Kitutu Masaba MP, as the new chairperson of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).
Former Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga was also among the appointees. Defence CS Soipan Tuya named Omanga a member of the Board of Directors of Kenya Shipyard Limited.
