Ruto, CS Mbadi and Duale Make New Appointments

President William Ruto, Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi and Environment CS Aden Duale have made appointments in the Executive and Judiciary.

In a gazette notice published on December 13, 2024, President Ruto appointed Dr. Stephen Maore chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Regional Centre on Groundwater Resources Education, Training and Research in Eastern Africa.

Maore will serve for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 13th of December 2024.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 5 (1) (a) of the Regional Centre on Groundwater Resources Education, Training and Research in Eastern Africa Order, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint— Stephen K. Maore (DR.) to be the chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Regional Centre on Groundwater Resources Education, Training and Research in Eastern Africa,’ read the notice in part.

Ruto Extends Taskforce Period

The Head of State has also extended the period of the Presidential Taskforce on addressing Human Resources for Health, which was appointed through Gazette Notice No. 3039 of 2024, for an additional sixty (60) days, effective from January 5, 2025.

On his part, CS Mbadi appointed Dr Percy Opiyo as the chairperson of the Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board for a period of three (3) years, effective from December 13, 2024.

Additionally, Mbadi appointed Dr Joseph Kanyi as the vice-chairperson of the Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board for a period of two (2) years, also effective from December 13, 2024.

Mbadi Appoints KASNEB Chair

The CS further appointed seven members to the Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board (KASNEB) for a period of three years, effective from December 13, 2024.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 15(1) of the Accountants Act, 2008, the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning appoints the following members to the Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board for a period of three (3) years, effective from December 13, 2024,” read the notice in part.

The appointees are Stephen O. Ogenga (Eng.), Elizabeth N. Muvui (CPA), Philip Kakai (CPA), Joshua Willy Wambua (FCS), Judy Olive Warui-Omurwa (CS), Percy Opiyo (Dr.), and Samantha Kipury.

Duale, Tuya Makes Appointments

Meanwhile, CS Duale appointed Maclean Sitati Nangalama as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Environmental Management Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 13th of December 2024.

The appointment of Charles Kibanani Ngome (Prof.) is revoked Dated the 13th of December 2024.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 10 (1) (e) of the Environmental Management and Co-ordination Act, 1999 as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry appoint— Maclean Sitati Nangalama as a member of the Board of Directors of the National Environmental Management Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 13th December, 2024,” the notice read.

Defence CS Soipan Tuya appointed John Ngugi Kariuki as a member of the Council of the National Defence University Kenya for a period of three (3) years, effective from December 13, 2024.

She also appointed Jonathan Krop Kipkore (Col. (Rtd.)), Agnes Leina Ntikaami, and Daniel L. Lekorere (Maj. (Rtd.)) as members of the Board of the Kenya Meat Commission for a period of three (3) years, effective from December 13, 2024.
