In a statement on June 12, 2026, the company said that the appointment is subject to the necessary approvals.
“The Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. John Rwangombwa as an independent non-executive director of the company,” read part of the statement.
The company congratulated Mr. Rwangombwa on his appointment and welcomed him on board.
“The Board congratulates and warmly welcomes Mr. John Rwangombwa and looks forward to his valuable contribution to the company,” read part of the statement.

Profile of John Rwangombwa
Rwangombwa is a 61-year-old Rwandan national economist and policy expert.
He has over 30 years of experience in public-sector leadership, particularly in financial management, macroeconomic policy, and banking.
Rwangombwa was the Governor of the National Bank of Rwanda from 2013 to 2025.
In this role, he led significant institutional and regulatory reforms to strengthen Rwanda’s monetary policy framework and enhance the resilience and stability of the country’s financial sector.
He also served as the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning in Rwanda.
As a minister, he led key economic reforms including public financial management, modernization, and capital market development initiatives.
Rwangombwa has also held several other senior government positions, including Permanent Secretary, Secretary to the Treasury, Accountant General, and Deputy Commissioner for Customs at the Rwanda Revenue Authority.
Rwangombwa has also served as Chair of the Association of African Central Banks and as a member of the IMF Board of Governors.
He was recognized as the Central Bank Governor of the Year (Sub-Saharan Africa), and as AFIS African Governor of the Year.
Rwangombwa Qualifications
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) degree from Makerere University.
At the same time, Rwangombwa holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Public Administration from the Maastricht School of Management.
