Senior IEBC Official Attacked and Killed by Masked Men

A senior official of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has been killed in her Mombasa home and her son critically injured.

According to police reports, the official, Aisha Akinyi Abubakar, was attacked by masked robbers at 3:00 am on Sunday, January 5.

Further, the police reports indicated that the two assailants who broke into her house through the kitchen window, also attacked Aisha’s 18-year-old son, Khasim Hassan.

“They gained access to the house by cutting the grills of the kitchen window while armed with crowbar and knife,” the police report read in part.
