Stephen Otieno Adera, popularly known by his stage name Stivo Simple Boy, is a Kenyan musician, songwriter, and media personality.

Since the start of his music career in 2019 after the release of his breakthrough anti-drug song, Vijana Tuwache Mihadarati, simple boy has become one of Kenya’s consistent media personalities through music, fashion, brand endorsement, and even comedy.

Over the past seven years in the entertainment industry, Adera has worked with many Kenyan and international brands through his unique delivery of music and slang, such as dragon moto testing, kumbavu zangu, and mafi mafi mushkla.

Despite facing personal and professional challenges, he remains one of Kenya’s most recognizable entertainers.

Stivo Simple Boy’s Early Life and the Journey to Nairobi

Stephen Otieno Adera was born on January 28, 1990, in Oyugis, Homa Bay County, as the seventh child in a family of eight.

Due to financial hardships, his family later relocated to Kibera, one of Nairobi’s largest slums, in search of better economic opportunities.

Growing up in Kibera exposed him to the everyday struggles of urban life, experiences that would later grow his music career.

He attended primary school in both Homa Bay and Nairobi but was unable to pursue further education because of financial constraints.

Before finding success in music, Stivo took on various casual jobs, including construction work, to support himself and his family.

His success in music started in 2019 when his song Vijana Tuwache Mihadarati, which called on young people to avoid drug and substance abuse, gained widespread attention in the entire country.

The song has a unique delivery style, and the setting was in the Kibera slums.

This earned him recognition from government agencies, leading to his appointment as an ambassador for anti-drug campaigns by the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA).

Music Career, Fame and Media Personality

Following his breakthrough, Stivo Simple Boy released several songs, establishing his consistency in Kenya’s entertainment industry.

Among his common tracks are Inauma, Uhalifu, Tuheshimu Ndoa, and Sherehe

Beyond music, Stivo’s personality and unique catchphrases such as “Freshi Barida,” “Haina Ngware,” and “Dragon Moto” became part of Kenyan popular culture, earning him millions of online engagements.

As a media personality, Adera has also done comedy skits and even participated in live shows. In 2024, he was among the happy country live performance show by Crazy Kennar. He also made a cameo appearance in Kennar’s film My Name Is Omosh.

As a consistent creator, Simple Boy has two YouTube channels, one for music and the other for his family vlogs and comedy skits.

Personal Life, Family and Relationships

While still living in Kibera, Simple Boy was in a public relationship with content creator Pritty Vishy, which became one of Kenya’s most talked-about relationships before the two parted ways in 2022.

He later dated media personality Jeanne Kokeyo and subsequently entered a relationship with Brenda, with whom he married and welcomed their baby in 2025.

Stivo Simple Boy Assests and Networth

In 2025, he launched Simple Boy Foundation to empower the youth through education and job creation. The foundation’s mission is also to address drug abuse among the youth.

Although his exact wealth remains unverified, in March 2026. Stivo publicly claimed that his net worth had risen to KSh 10 million from KSh 100,000, citing revenue from music, endorsements, and business ventures.

In February 2025, he launched a Mazda Demio acquired through a partnership with Khushi Motors. Four months later, he announced the purchase of a Daihatsu Mira, which he stated was his first fully owned personal vehicle. In September 2025, he also announced the purchase of a Nissan March
