Two people narrowly escaped death after a truck plunged into the Indian Ocean at the Likoni ferry on Christmas eve.
The lorry was transporting cement from Mombasa island when it plunged into the Indian Ocean at the Likoni Crossing Channel Mainland side.
The two, the lorry driver and his conductor were saved by standby divers and the security personnel manning the ferry crossing channel.

Confirming the incident, Coast Regional Commissioner John Elungata said that the lorry was disembarking from the ferry when it lost its breaks.
The driver, in turn, lost control and plunged into the ocean.
“It was disembarking from the ferry but the driver lost control and the car plunged into the sea,” Elungata noted.
Elungata said the lorry was overloaded with cement which contributed to the mechanical breakdown
