The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has revealed grassroot party elections dates.
UDA Chairperson Cecily Mbarire made the announcement after the National Steering Committee (NSC) meeting chaired by President William Ruto on Tuesday, April 2, 2024.
In a press conference, Mbarire said the elections will be conducted in four phases starting from April 26, 2024.
“On April 26, the elections will be conducted in the following counties: Nairobi, Narok, West Pokot, Busia, Homabay, Isiolo and Garissa,” she said.
Governor Mbarire further said phase two of the elections will be conducted on June 22 in 13 counties.
This includes Mombasa, Uasin Gishu, Nyandarua,Tharaka Nithi, Machakos, Kisii, Bungoma, Siaya, Taita Taveta, Wajir, Tana River,Kwale and Marsabit.
“Phase three which will be conducted on August 10 will be in the following counties: Kiambu, Embu, Kericho, Meru,Migori,Kakamega, Nyamira, Kitui,Elgeyo Marakwet, Samburu, Kajiado, Mandera, Kilifi, Murang’a and Lamu,” Mbarire said.
The last phase of the elections will be held on August 24 in Nakuru, Bomet, Nyeri, Kirinyanga, Baringo, Nandi, Turkana, Laikipia,Transzoia, Kisumu, Vihiga and Makueni.
“Upon completion of the grassroot election in all the counties,UDA will conduct the ensuing county national elections of the party by December 2024,” she said.
UDA Appoints National Elections Board Members
The NSC also appointed chairperson and members of the party’s national elections board to facilitate the exercise.
“These elections cannot happen without the national elections board to conduct the elections as the dates that have been mentioned,” Mbarire explained.
Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) chair Anthony Mwaura has been named as the Board’s Chairperson with Veronica Kiberenge deputizing him.
Other members of the elections board are Linda Kiome, Jimmy Kaingi, Mary Mutinga, Halake Dida, Lydiah Munika.

Dispute Resolution Committees
The party also constituted the electoral dispute resolution committee (EDRC) consisting of Kenya Power and Lightening Company (KPLC) board chairperson Joy Mdivo (Chairperson), Dr Adrian Kamotho (Vice Chaiperson), Hellen Makone ,Yvonne Cherop Kae, Dr Duncan Ojwang, Dr Kaberia Isaac, Barbra Japan and Anjichi Joseph and Ziporah Karimi Muiruri.
Additionally, UDA also reconstituted the internal dispute resolution committee mandated to solve other disputes not related to elections.
UDA appointed Narok Woman Representative Rebecca Tonkel as chairperson and former Mombasa senator Hassan Omar as the vice chair.
Other members include Dr Joshua Ong’era, Leah Manyarkiy, Samuel Kariuki, Bishop Robert Theuri and Ronald Shako.
“The UDA party is committed and dedicated to ensuring a just and prosperous nation through good governance; nurturing the right political atmosphere for businesses and industries to thrive; foster political stability with a view to realizing the bottom-up economic transformation agenda for the greater good and the welfare of the people of Kenya,” Mbarire said.

Qualification to Vote & Vie
UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala said the party will only allow registered members to vote and take part in the grassroot elections.
Malala further revealed that the party’s registration portal is open for the counties in the phase one of the election schedule.
“We will continue with the voter registration to ensure the party gets enough members, only the registered UDA members will vote. We encourage people to register as members and as candidates,” Malala said.
The grassroot elections were to be held on December 9, 2023, but it was pushed to April 2024.
