Former President Uhuru Kenyatta was spotted at a basketball game in the U.S, among over 19,000 basketball enthusiasts at an NBA playoff between the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics.
Kenyatta was spotted at the event wearing a green cap – one of the Celtics’ team colors – and a black puff jacket.
This suggests that Kenyatta is a fan of the Celtics, a historic NBA franchise known for its rich basketball heritage and legendary players like Bill Russell, Larry Bird, and Paul Pierce.
At the game, Kenyatta unexpectedly encountered Wapi Pay founder Eddie Ndichu, another Kenyan.
Photos emerged of the two appearing to be engaged in a friendly conversation, possibly discussing the match or simply surprised to find themselves in the same place so far from home.
Ndichu shared his excitement about the encounter on his Instagram, captioning the photo “Fancy meeting at the playoffs!”
Kenyatta’s presence at the NBA playoff game aligns with his known interest in basketball.
During his presidency, he hosted the Kenyan national basketball team on multiple occasions and even welcomed retired German NBA player Dirk Nowitzki to the State House in 2020, further demonstrating his engagement with the sport.

Rylon Mugo expressed his willingness to vote for the retired head of state if he chooses to make a comeback into politics saying, “Retired is retired period unless they bring BBI and make prime minister a powerful seat, we can choose him.”
