Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Dr. Korir Sing’ Oei has announced that Kenya will take center stage at Germany’s prestigious Burgerfest festival this September in Berlin.
The news comes as part of the government’s strategic investment in the creative economy.
Speaking at the Miss & Mr. World Kenya Finale, Dr. Korir revealed that the Burgerfest, a presidential citizens festival, is expected to draw over 10,000 attendees from Germany and across Europe.
He highlighted that the event would provide Kenya with the chance to showcase its vibrant cuisine, entertainment, and rich cultural concepts, along with other innovative offerings.
“I am pleased to inform that this year in September at Germany’s presidential citizens festival known as the Burgerfest, in Berlin, Kenya will be the country of focus,” said Korir.
Winners Sponsored to Participate in the Event
Recognizing the significance of fashion and design as integral components of Kenya’s culture, Dr. Korir shared that the winners of the Miss and Mr. World Kenya pageant will be sponsored to participate in the Berlin festival.

“As fashion and design is an integral part of our cultural menu, I am pleased to inform that the male and female winners of this amazing pageant will be sponsored to be part of the Berlin festival this September.”
Furthermore, the PS lauded the pageant event for its commitment to nurturing the creative economy and positioning the country as a global hub for beauty, elegance, and captivating designs.
“This year’s event has showcased innovative, eye-catching and compelling sartorial and fashion design ideas and interpretations that have served to position Kenya on a solid global map as the hotbed of beauty, elegance and enchanting designs,” stated Korir.
“The fusion of modernism and our proud cultural heritage and histories evident in the designs have curated irresistible couturial concepts fit for national and global wardrobes.”
Korir Hails CEO Terry Mungai
Dr. Korir also praised Terry Mungai, as a trailblazer who has dedicated countless hours to developing Kenya’s fashion, modeling, and beauty industry.
“No one has contributed to the development of the fashion, modelling and beauty industry in Kenya more than Terry Mungai.”
He praised Mungai for nurturing countless talents and overcoming stereotypes that once hindered the industry’s growth.

“She has built a stable and formidable brand that is authentic, credible and attractive not just to Kenyans but to visitors alike.”
Dr. Korir acknowledged Mungai as a national treasure, expressing gratitude on behalf of the Kenyan people.
