Detectives from the Eldoret Directorate of Criminal investigation (DCI) department arrested eleven suspects on Tuesday, October 24.
This intelligence led operation led to the recovery of 156 mobile phones, 45 TVs, forty-one laptops among other items.
“11 suspects were arrested yesterday in Eldoret, following an intelligence led operation conducted by Eldoret based detectives that led to the recovery of 156 mobile phones, 45 TVs, 41 laptops among other items,” DCI statement reads in part.
Moreover, the sleuths raided Petresha Building within Eldoret Township where several electronic repair shops believed to be confiscating stolen items were searched.
The police recovered assorted electronics without prerequisite ownership receipts.
Additionally, the intelligence team backed up by Eldoret Police Station officers noted that the 11 suspects include 10 male and one female.

The Busted Suspects
The DCI identified the suspects as Anthony Barasa, Patrick Oduor, Ruth Rono, George Maina, Emmanuel Ejiko, Onesmus Kisuye, Emanuel Loyapan, Kelphas Omar, Joseph Mugo, John Waweru and Joyce Wachira.
The suspects were escorted to Eldoret police station for further investigation.
Also, the detectives stated that the assorted goods were kept in custody pending identification by bonafide owners.

Nonetheless, this raid follows a recent declaration by detectives from the elite Crime Research & Intelligence Bureau based at the DCI Nairobi to cast their nets wider in capturing more suspects.
“Regional Command have cast their nets wider for more suspects in what is believed to be an elaborate syndicate sneaking stolen mobile phones to neighboring countries,” read a DCI statement.
Notably the case comes days after the DCI announced another raid in Nairobi city cornering down suspects linked to rampant disappearance of mobile phones within the city.

Recent DCI Electronic Raid
The four suspects according to DCI were arrested in Nairobi Central Business District.
Two of the individuals as reported by DCI were from neighboring Uganda.
“Malumasi Aisha and Agaba Anestus Majuni both of from neighboring Uganda were arrested alongside Sarah Njeri and her sister Mary Wangui in an intelligence led operation” read the statement by DCI
The raid which was conducted by detectives within the busy Nairobi Central Business District saw the four detained awaiting arraignment.
Notably, Malumasi, who was the first to be cornered, was found with a parcel of thirteen smart phones believed to destined for the black market in Uganda.
Similarly, the suspect further led the sleuths to shop E17 located at Munyu Business center, where her accomplices Sarah Wangari and Mary Wangui were receiving other stolen mobile phones.
