In its statement, the Police Service noted that they recovered several electronic gadgets raid in Kisii Town.
According to the officers, there were 351 mobile phones, 20 laptops, 13 tablets and 21 hard drives which are suspected of being stolen from the public.
“NPS Officers from Kisii Central Sub-County and Mkopa recovered several electronic gadgets: 351 mobile phones, 20 laptops, 13 tablets and 21 hard drives following a raid within Kisii Town,” the statement read.
“Consequently, 14 suspects were also apprehended,” they added.

What should one do when the phone is lost?
Notably, most people have lost multiple phones, with some losing them to violent robbers, especially in cities and congested places where insecurity is a challenge.
A thief is likely to switch off the phone, dispose of the SIM card and even flush the phone to erase details of the previous owner.
When you lose your phone, contact, or visit the nearest mobile service provider’s office to block your SIM card.

You can also contact their customer care using someone else’s mobile number and ask them to block your line.
This ensures that the person with your phone cannot use your SIM Card to either contact people or make transactions.
At the same time, visit a police station to report and get an abstract for the same.
Moreover, a police abstract will make it easy to follow up the matter and even prosecute a documented case. A police abstract will also help you to claim insurance.
Phones IMEI number
Every mobile phone has an International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number which is used when tracing lost devices. The police can easily track and trace your phone using this unique identifier.
One should have their IMEI number because it is a unique identifier for your phone to track your phone using online tools.

Also, to trace your lost phone, you can use in-built solutions from your phone manufacturer, such as Find My iPhone or Find My Device, to locate, lock, or erase your phone remotely.
This is an important task since phones contain much of our personal data.
Notably, one can also use third-party apps, such as Pins Mobile Security, which can track your phone using both phone number and IMEI number.
Further, it is commendable to keep your location services activated to enable tracking it later.
