Mr. Onesmus Masaku who lost an arm and bled profusely after being attacked by Police Constable Nancy Njeri of Makueni Police Station has died.
The slain Makueni lawyer succumbed to his death today at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).
Mr. Mutisya Mutia, chair of the South Eastern branch of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), broke the news of the lawyer’s death to reporters.
Estranged Relationship
Ms. Njeri is said to have attacked the lawyer using a panga when she visited him at his house. The two are said to have been estranged lovers, and the Police are investigating to know whether Ms. Njeri was on a revenge mission.
Njeri is likely to face a murder charge after the death of Mr. Masaku.
Incident
Earlier on, Njeri told the police that the deceased invited her to his house to introduce his new girlfriend but made sexual advances instead.
She said she turned him down but that he insisted.
Mr. Masaku is said to have grabbed her and forced her to the bedroom, whereby prompting Njeri to chop off his arm.
“The lawyer grabbed her and started forcing her to his bedroom. This prompted the officer to grab a panga and cut him on both hands before managing to escape,” Makueni Sub-county Police Commander Timothy Maina said in the report.
Court Arraignment
Njeri will be arraigned in court on Friday, October the 23rd after a Machakos Court granted police 14 days to complete their investigations.
