Angama Mara sits high on the edge of Africa’s Great Rift Valley, overlooking Kenya’s famous Maasai Mara game reserve.
The lodge’s Tented Suites are spread across two kopjes, with a third kopje famous for scenes from the movie Out of Africa.
The buildings, made with red bricks inspired by Maasai homes, add a beautiful and dramatic touch to the landscape.
The name Angama means “suspended in mid-air” in Swahili, and the lodge lives up to it.
Guests enjoy a relaxed, personal safari experience with no fixed schedule, from game drives at sunrise to quiet mornings in the suites, every day is designed around what visitors want.
The lodge leases land from local owners, hires local staff, and supports education, healthcare, and wildlife conservation through its Foundation.
Created by Steve and Nicky Fitzgerald, who have many years of experience running luxury lodges worldwide, Angama Mara is the result of more than ten years of planning.
