Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has explained why Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua must not resign, indicating that he risks being charged.
According to the former Vice President, Gachagua was enjoying support from Kenyans.
In an interview, on October 15, Kalonzo stated that there was not enough time to carry out proper public participation in Gachagua’s impeachment process.
At the same time, he highlighted that the impeachment process is predetermined.
“The National Assembly will have a special sitting on Friday which means they have already prejudged what the Senate will decide. Unless the courts stop the process, Gachagua’s goose is cooked,” he added.
Kalonzo on Rising Dictatorship
During the interview, Kalonzo called on Kenyans to look out for the possible rise of dictatorship in the country.
“Kenyans must be on the lookout for the possibility of being drawn into a serious dictatorship. We have seen what has been happening to the Judiciary,” Kalonzo asserted.
Furthermore, he emphasized that President William Ruto is completely ruling over the National Assembly thus dictating its decisions and perhaps the Senate.
Additionally, he argued that the National Assembly was unfit to impeach DP Gachagua citing that the parliament has been captured by the Executive.
He emphasized that he would be the last person to recommend that the same Parliament impeach President Ruto. “It is an impeached Parliament,” he elaborated.
“One would have expected that since the President and his deputy are on one ticket if they assumed office, they would agree but we have constantly seen contradiction,” Kalonzo cited.
He went on to attribute that two years later, Gachagua and Ruto cannot sit together and forgive each other.

At the same time, he emphasized that Gachagua’s impeachment is a diversionary act to avoid the issues that are affecting the ordinary Kenyan.
The Wiper party affirmed to have taken a principal position not to support the impeachment motion, applauding the Members of Parliament from Wiper, who sit in the National Assembly, terming them a credible lot which he is proud of.
