Former NTV journalist and Ex-Director of Press Service in the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary Salim Swaleh has expressed his frustration over the lack of employment.
Swaleh while taking to his official Social Media account, he shared a video featuring a collection of his suits.
He went on to tag major mainstream media outlets, including Citizen TV, KTN News, Mediamax, TV47news, and the State House of Kenya.
“I miss putting on my suits and reporting to work every morning. Nipeeni kazi jameni,” he wrote.
Salim Swaleh Losing His Job at Mudavadi’s Office
Earlier in August, Swaleh, who had been working in Musalia Mudavadi’s office, shared a video pleading for mercy, revealing that his life had worsened after his arrest over fraud.
Swaleh also admitted to betrayingMudavadi’s trust, expressing deep remorse for his actions.

In a heartfelt video, he said: “I hope this video finds you well. I’ve been trying to reach you for the past few weeks without success. I’ve sent many people, but none have been able to get through.”
“You’ve been a father figure to me for a long time, and we built an unmatched trust. Over the last year and a half, I served you with dedication and zeal. I broke that trust, and for that, I am truly sorry. I am deeply remorseful.”
Fraud Case Against Swaleh
Swaleh, along with four others, was accused of involvement in a Ksh 5.8 million fraud and arrested on June 22, 2024.
The charges stemmed from allegations that the suspects attempted to deceive foreign nationals from Dubai and South Africa into paying a registration fee for a tender to construct two stadiums for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) games.
Swaleh, along with Otieno Japolo Michael, Terry Kemunto Sese, Daniel Omondi Gogo, and John Musundi Wabomba, were accused of attempting to defraud Nexor-Emea Engineering Consultancy Company.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had previously approved three fraud charges against Swaleh and his co-accused: conspiracy to defraud, attempting to obtain money by false pretence, and abuse of office.
The prosecution alleged that Swaleh facilitated a meeting at his office at the Kenya Railways Headquarters, where Otieno impersonated the Chairman of the Government Delivery Unit in an effort to secure the tender.
His Career as a Journalist
Upon completing college, Salim worked at a community radio in Majengo, Nairobi known as Ghetto FM without pay before relocating back to Nakuru and getting his first job as a journalist at Sauti ya Mwananchi Radio.
Salim secured a job with Citizen TV in 2016. He took on the role of presenting the 7 PM Nipashe Jumapili news, which was previously read by Kanze Dena and Lulu Hassan.
He did an excellent job and resigned after two years to join NTV where he progressed to become an editor and news anchor for the NTV 7 PM Swahili news before Mudavadi appointed him as the head of communications in his office.
