NARC Kenya party leader Martha Karua has criticized the President William Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza administration calling the head of state a master of doublespeak.
The former Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Presidential Running mate while speaking on Tuesday, June 20 during an interview with NTV stated that President William Ruto was part of the borrowing, and the debts were incurred by him and Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta in the Jubilee administration.
“The Kenya Kwanza regime is the master of doublespeak. William Ruto was Deputy President and therefore in the presidency, he never missed a single cabinet meeting, so he is part of the fault of the former regime,” Karua noted.
Moreover, this comes even as Kenya Kwanza leaders have been blaming retired president Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime for over-borrowing during his tenure at the country’s top office.
However, Karua said President Ruto has borrowed more than his predecessor over the nine months he has been in power.

“For the nine months he (Ruto) has been at the helm, he has borrowed more money than Uhuru borrowed at a similar time. What has Ruto done to fight corruption? He has enhanced corruption by appointing people without integrity,” she added.
Likewise, details emerged in January that Kenya Kwanza government had borrowed more than Sh137 billion since Ruto was sworn in in September 2022.
Furthermore, data from the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) revealed that President William Ruto’s administration had borrowed a total of Sh137.5 billion from September to November 2022.
The amount borrowed was almost double the average quarterly borrowing by former president Uhuru Kenyatta’s government.
