Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah is the best performing Member of Parliament in the Senate, this is according to a poll by Infotrak.
Taking to his X account, Omtatah thanked Infotrak Research and Consulting for the honor.
“I am honored and humbled,” said Omtatah.
In the Infotrak poll report published on Wednesday, November 1, Omtatah was ranked first with a score of 56%.
Omtatah, who is a seasoned civil rights activist, was at the forefront in opposing the Finance Act 2023.
Moreover, Omtatah filed a petition challenging the Finance Act 2023 before its implementation in July 2023.
In a ruling on Friday, June 30, High Court Judge Mugure Thande issued orders suspending the implementation of the Finance Act 2023.
However, the Court of Appeal lifted the suspension on July 28 paving way for its implementation.
As a result of the Court of Appeal’s decision, Omtath proceeded to appeal the case at the Supreme Court.
24 Senators after Omtatah
Senator Kamau Murango (Kirinyanga) and Aaron Cheruiyot (Kericho) were ranked second with 56 percent.
Additionally, Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo came in at fourth place with 52 percent.
He was followed closely by John Methu (Nyandarua) and Joel Nyutu (Muranga) both with 51 percent.
Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua and his Samburu counterpart Ltumbesi Lelegwe were ranked seventh at 50 percent.
Further, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna was ranked nineth with 48 percent alongside his West Pokot counterpart Julius Murgor.

Nine Senators tied at 48 percent including Samson Cherargei (Nandi), Okongo Mogeni (Nyamira), Godfrey Osotsi (Vihiga), Alexander Mundigi (Embu), Agne Kavindu (Machakos), William Kipsang (Elgeyo Marakwet), Ali Roba (Mandera), Moses Kajwang (Homabay) and Mohamme Chute (Marsabit).
In addition, five senators closed the top 25 list with a score of 46 percent.
They included Hillary Sigei (Bomet), Jackson Mandago (Uasin Gishu), Gataya Mwenda (Tharaka Nithi), Fatuma Dullo (Isiolo) and Kathuri Murungi (Meru).
Also, Cheruiyot topped the list of the third term senators followed by Kajwang.
Wambua and Lelegwe topped the list of second term senators followed by Cherargei, Mogeni and Kavindu.

Governors Beat Senators
Furthermore, the Infotrak poll release revealed that governors are the best performing elected leaders in Kenya.
The firm ranked governors the best ahead of Senators, Women Representatives and Members of County Assembly (MCAs).
Governors had a mean score of 57 percent followed by MCAs who scored 50 percent.
Senators were ranked third with 46% while the Women representatives were last with 42% mean score.
