Lyndah Kebati, popularly known as Thee Lovechild, is a Kenyan plus-size model, content creator, influencer, and entrepreneur who has built a career around fashion and digital content.

She has worked as a freelance model and content creator while also running Mrembo Satisfashion, a fashion business she developed after struggling to find clothes that matched her preferred style and body type.

Lyndah recently came into the spotlight after speaking during the funeral of her father, veteran musician Bosco Kebati, where she addressed a family dispute.

She alleged that her side of the family had been excluded from parts of the funeral arrangements.

“So to you, Baba, Bosco Atinda Kebati. I do not know the name that you were baptised with because they never included us. Even in the entire process of us organising this thing, the second family was never included,” Lyndah stated during her father’s burial.

Lyndah Kebati’s Family Background and Burial Rift

Lyndah Ashlie Kebati has generally kept details of her family life out of her public career.

Her father, Bosco Kebati, born in 1962, was a musician whose death brought renewed attention to her family background.

The late Bosco had a brother, Paul, living in Canada; a sister, Esther Opiyo; and two other sisters.

Alongside Lyndah Kebati and her younger sister, Bosco was the father of two other sons and two daughters from his first marriage.

At his funeral, Lyndah described the 28-year relationship she shared with her father, her mother, Angelica Akinyi, and her younger sister as a separate unit within the larger Kebati family.

She also questioned aspects of the funeral program and eulogy, including the information used to remember her father and the misspelt names.

Lyndah also said that members of the other side of the family had not contacted them following Bosco’s death to offer condolences to her mother or their family.

She expressed her dissatisfaction publicly, saying she did not intend to pretend she had a close relationship with relatives who, she said, had not treated them as family.

Taking to her social media account on September 16, Lyndah Kebati clarified that her statement at the burial did not come from a lack of support but from the refusal to pay appropriate last respects to their father.

“I am not angry because people did not show up for me. I am angry because L was denied the opportunity to show up for my own father, denied access to see his body in the morgue, denied a place in his funeral arrangements, and left out of his eulogy,” Lyndah Kebati noted.

Lyndah Kebati Career Background

Lyndah’s fashion career grew out of her personal interest in clothing and styling.

In an interview with People Daily, she described herself as a body positivity advocate, freelance model, influencer, and content creator.

According to Lyndah, many plus-size clothing stores did not offer the kind of fashionable outfits she wanted.

Lyndah also explained that she felt some plus-size designs were associated with older women rather than younger people seeking contemporary styles.

In response, she founded the Mrembo Satisfashion, allowing her to create and sell fashion pieces based on the style she wanted to see in the market.

Her preferred accessories include statement jewellery, glasses, belts, and handbags.

Among the fashion pieces she considers important in a woman’s wardrobe are a little black dress, black or nude heels, shapewear, a good-quality bra, and a blazer.

Thee Lovechild Journey and Plus-Size Fashion

Lyndah’s public identity as Thee Lovechild developed alongside her modelling and content creation career. Her fashion content focuses on styling, outfit combinations, and personal presentation.

Lyndah emphasises that she does not follow one fixed style, instead choosing different looks depending on the occasion.

When selecting an outfit, she considers factors such as the weather, the event theme, the location, and how the clothes will look in photographs.

As a plus-size woman, Lyndah has often spoken about the challenges plus-size content creators face, including limited opportunities from brands, cyberbullying, and body shaming.
