Ferdinand Omanyala has failed to make it through to the World Championships Oregon 22, 100 metres finals after finishing fifth in his semifinal early Sunday morning.
Omanyala clocked a slow 10.14, missing out on the two automatic spots for the final.
Oblique Sevilla of Jamaica won the heat in 9:90 ahead of USA’s Marvin Bracy who came second in 9.93 as Canada’s Aaron Brown finished third in 10.06.
Moreover, Ferdinad Omanyala arrived in Oregona barely 2 hours before the start of the competition on Friday, July 15 due to complications while processing his visa.
Nonetheless, Americans swept the finals clean with Fred Kerley coming first by clocking 9.86 to win gold whereas Marvin Bracy took silver in 9.88 and Trayvon Bromwell took bronze in a similar time.

In addition, South Africa’s Akani Simbine who finished second to Omanyala at the Africa championship in Mauritius finished fifth in 10.01. also, defending champion Christian Coleman posted a similar time to finish sixth.
Meanwhile, two-time Olympic 1,500m champion Faith Kipyegon got into the final after clocking 4:03.98 in semi-finals. Hirut Meshesha from Ethiopia came second place in 4:04 .05 as Johnson Sinclair of USA and Australia’ Gerogia Griffith qualified for Tuesday final after finishing third and fourth respectively in 4:04.51 and 4:05.15.
Furthermore, Kipyegon will be joined by Africa champion Winnie Chebet who qualified as one of the fastest losers after finishing sixth in her heat in 4:03.28.
Likewise, in the men’s category, world champion Timothy Cheruiyot, Africa champion, Abel Kipsang and Kumari Taki progressed to the semifinals.
Cheruiyot finished fourth in his heat in 3:36.41 with the first six qualifying for the semis. Kipsang finished third in heat 3, where he posted 3:39.21 while Taki qualified by virtue of being one one of the fastest losers in 3:36.47 to finish ninth in Heat two. However, Charles Simotwo missed out by finishing 10th in 3:37.66.
