The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) has launched an online Medical Attestation Certificate system.
According to KMPDC, the online system will enable licensed medical practitioners to process and issue certificates digitally through the Online Services Portal (OSP).
Further, the system is expected to streamline medical certification and enhance the authenticity of documents for international travel, employment, education, and immigration.
“The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) has updated the Online Services Portal (OSP) to enable licensed medical practitioners to apply for and issue Medical Attestation Certificates through their personal Online Services Portal accounts,” KMPDC explained on July 16.
Medical attestation is the process through which a medical practitioner officially certifies an individual’s health status following a professional medical examination and assessment, according to KMPDC.
KMPDC notes that the Medical Attestation Certificate is commonly requested by foreign employers, universities, embassies, and immigration authorities as part of visa, residency, study, or work permit applications.
Requirements for Medical Practitioners
To process and issue a Medical Attestation Certificate, a practitioner must meet specific requirements set by KMPDC, including having access to a personal Online Services Portal account.
Further, the medical practitioner should hold a valid Clinical Practicing License for the current year and be attached to a duly licensed and registered health facility.
Practitioners are also expected to refer and certify patients only within their approved scope of practice.

Certificate Applicants KMPDC Requirements
Interested candidates applying for the Medical Attestation Certificate will be required to provide a valid National ID card or passport and a duly completed and signed medical report.
Further, applicants will be required to provide a recent color passport-size photograph and pay a medical certification fee of KSh 3,000 payable through eCitizen.
How to Apply
The attending medical practitioner completes the application process through the KMPDC Online Services Portal.
To apply, the medical practitioner must log in to the Online Services Portal and select the Medical Attestation Certificate option from the dashboard.
After selection, fill in all required medical certification details and upload the applicant’s supporting documents.
The licensed medical practitioner should then review the information to ensure it is accurate and complete and submit the application.
Once an invoice is generated, the applicant should pay KSh 3,000 through eCitizen.
Upon payment confirmation, a receipt is generated, and the certificate is processed, allowing the applicant to download the completed Medical Attestation Certificate.

Professional Responsibility
KMPDC has emphasized that Medical Attestation Certificates should only be issued after an appropriate professional evaluation and assessment of the applicant.
