Fred Omondi: Relative Threatens to Beat Up Alleged Baby Mama

Omondi's relative said that the lady had pitched camp at their rural home for about a week since Fred’s death.

Drama unfolded during the burial of the late comedian and brother to Eric Omondi, Fred Omondi, as one of their family members threatened to beat up a lady claiming to be Fred’s baby mama.

Eric Omondi’s relative was captured in a video on Saturday, June 29, during the burial ceremony held in Ugenya, Siaya County, threatening to beat up the unidentified lady.

In the video seen by The Kenya Times, the visibly agitated relative to Eric explained the reason behind her threats, saying that the said lady was claiming to have sired a child with the late Fred.

According to the relative, the said lady had camped at their rural home for about a week since Fred’s death, consistently maintaining her baby mama claims.

The relative further explained that she had just jetted back into the country a day earlier for the funeral only to hear about the allegations.

In her narration, she said that the family had asked the lady to bring the alleged child to the burial ceremony even providing transport money for her, which she didn’t.

“I jetted into the country yesterday from Europe only to arrive and hear about someone claiming to be Fred’s wife and that she has a child with him. I just saw this lady here today, if she has a child with our late brother, she could have brought the child here.

We gave her fare to bring the child which she hasn’t. If it is indeed true that she sired a child with Fred, the child was supposed to attend the father’s burial,” she said.

The lady insisted that Fred has a known child which the family knows about, adding that she even knows the mother to the deceased’s child.

Omondi’s relative threatened to beat up the lady noting that the lady seemed to be just after fame at a time the family was in mourning having lost Fred.

“She will not take advantage in our home, where is the child? The child is the one supposed to be present during their’ father’s burial. The lady seems to be just after clout chasing, I will beat her up. We are currently going through much pain, and she should not come to seek social media views at our home,” she added.

Earlier during the burial ceremony, Eric Omondi called on anyone who may have sired an unknown child with his late brother, to come forward.

Omondi who was also responding to claims from the lady maintained that the family was ready to take up any child who may have been sired by Fred.

Fredrick Odhiambo Omondi, alias Fred, was buried at Sega in Ugenya, Siaya County, in a ceremony that saw several celebrities and politicians attend.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Siaya governor James Orengo and Members of Parliament (MP) Babu Owino and Phelix Odiwuor Jalang’o were among leaders in attendance.

Fred’s brother, Comedian turned activist Eric during the burial introduced his sisters, disclosing that his dad was a polygamous man.

Eric further revealed that his father had five wives and that his mother was the fourth wife.

Fred met his untimely death in a tragic road accident along Kangundo Road in Nairobi on Saturday morning, June 15, 2024.

According to a police report, Fred was riding on a motorcycle when a Forward Sacco bus headed towards the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) from Kayole estate collided head on with the motorcycle headed in the opposite direction.

Fredrick died on the spot from the impact, while the motorcyclist ferrying him sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital.
