The Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met) has forecast cold nights, rainfall and intermittent cloudy conditions in several parts of the country over the next five days.
In its weather outlook covering August 8 to August 12, 2026, Kenya Met said residents in parts of the Central Highlands, Nairobi, the Rift Valley and sections of Eastern Kenya should expect cool mornings and nights, while rainfall will continue in parts of western, Rift Valley and coastal counties.
“Rainfall is expected in several counties. Intermittent cool and cloudy conditions are expected in some parts,” Kenya Met said.
Kenya Met said intermittent cool and cloudy conditions are expected in Nairobi, Kajiado, Kiambu, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Makueni, Machakos, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, Meru, Marsabit, Garissa and Taita Taveta during the forecast period.
Night temperatures are expected to remain low in several counties. Nyandarua is forecast to record the coldest nights, with temperatures dropping to 7°C.
Meanwhile, Kiambu, Machakos, Meru and Kajiado will record minimum temperatures of between 10°C and 13°C.
Nairobi, on the other hand, is expected to experience minimum temperatures of 11°C to 12°C.
Kenya Met Forecasts Rain in Several Counties
Rainfall is expected in parts of the Rift Valley, western Kenya, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Coast during the five-day forecast period.
The heaviest rainfall is forecast in parts of the North Rift, where West Pokot, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu and Nandi are expected to receive moderate afternoon showers on most days between Saturday and Wednesday.
Several counties in western Kenya will also experience intermittent rainfall. Kakamega, Bungoma, Busia, Kisumu, Kisii, Nyamira, Homa Bay and Migori are forecast to receive light to moderate afternoon showers on selected days, particularly over the weekend and early next week.
In the Central Highlands, Nyandarua is expected to receive light afternoon showers on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday, while Kiambu is forecast to experience light morning rain on Sunday. Embu is also likely to receive light showers on Wednesday night.
Residents in Kericho should expect light afternoon showers on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday, while Elgeyo Marakwet is forecast to receive light showers between Saturday and Monday. Samburu is expected to receive light afternoon showers on Saturday.

Sunny, Hot Conditions in Northern Kenya
While some parts of the country will receive rainfall, northern Kenya is expected to remain hot and largely dry.
Mandera is forecast to record the highest daytime temperatures, reaching 37°C between Monday and Wednesday.
Other counties expected to experience high temperatures include Garissa, where temperatures could rise to 36°C; Turkana at 36°C; Wajir at 35°C; and Tana River, where temperatures are expected to reach 33°C.
Nairobi Forecast
For Nairobi, Kenya Met forecasts cloudy to sunny intervals on Saturday and Sunday mornings before clearer conditions from Monday.
Afternoons throughout the five-day period are expected to remain sunny, while nights will be partly cloudy.
Daytime temperatures are expected to range between 21°C and 22°C, with minimum temperatures of 11°C to 12°C.

Coastal Counties
Residents along the Coast should expect warm weather with occasional morning showers.
Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi and Lamu are forecast to receive light morning showers during the first part of the forecast period before giving way to sunny intervals in the afternoon and partly cloudy nights.
Maximum temperatures along the Coast will range between 28°C and 31°C.
