The Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met) has issued a weather forecast for the week of 27 to 31st July 2024. Kenya Met in the forecast released on July 26, 2024, said that continued rainfall and cool conditions are expected across several regions in Kenya.

According to the seven-day forecast, cool conditions accompanied by clouds are expected over regions such as the South-eastern lowlands and Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley region which includes Nairobi County.

Residents in the Lake Victoria Basin, Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Central Rift Valley, and North-western Kenya on the other hand should prepare for persistent rains.

In the Highlands East of the Rift Valley which include Nairobi County and the Central region counties of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, and Kiambu, residents are set experience minimum temperatures of 07°C in two days.

According to the weatherman, the low temperatures are expected to be accompanied by either showers over a few high-ground areas (2 days), or partly cloudy conditions (3 days) during the night.

Maximum temperatures of up to 27°C are expected for about three days in these regions which also include Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Counties.

Residents are encouraged to stay warm and take care on the roads, as the combination of rain and low temperatures can lead to slippery conditions and reduced visibility.

Kenya Met forecast in other regions

The South-eastern lowlands which include Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta Counties are set to experience minimum temperatures of 09°C and 31°C maximum.

According to the Kenya Met, the high temperatures are to be experienced mostly during afternoons which are expected to be covered by sunny intervals.

In the Coast region which covers Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties, this forecast comes as a stark contrast compared to other regions as residents are set to experience rather warm conditions.

The weatherman predicts that high daytime temperatures are expected in the region as well as North-eastern, and North-western regions, where temperature levels are set to soar to heights of between 25°C to 35°C.

Coast region residents are set to enjoy sunny intervals in each day covered in the forecast especially between the morning and afternoons, while nights are expected to remain partly cloudy.

The Kenya Met Department advises residents in the aforementioned areas to take necessary precautions to cope with the varying weather conditions.
