United Kingdom has announced the biggest-ever drone package for Ukraine as part of its ongoing military support for Kyiv in the war against Russia.
The announcement comes alongside other packages of defense assistance and increased cooperation with international allies
The commitments come after UK Defense Secretary John Healey traveled to Berlin to co-chair the 34th meeting of the 50-nation-strong Ukraine Defense Contact Group, together with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, Ukrainian Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
Major Expansion of Drone Warfare Support
UK government has confirmed its commitment to supply at least 120,000 drones to Ukraine, describing it as the biggest drone package ever announced by Britain.
The new package, which has already begun delivery, includes a wide range of unmanned systems, including:
- Long-range strike drones
- Intelligence and reconnaissance drones
- Logistics drones
- Maritime capabilities

According to the Healey, many of these systems are already battle-proven and are expected to strengthen Kyiv’s ability to conduct both offensive and defensive operations against Russian forces.
“This big boost of battle-proven drones will give Ukrainian forces the capability they need to defend their people and fight back against Russian aggression. With eyes on the Middle East in recent weeks, Putin wants us to be distracted, but Ukrainians continue to fight with huge courage, and nothing will distract us from continuing to stand with them for as long as it takes to secure peace,” said Healey.
Escalation of Drone use in the Russia-Ukraine war
The announcement comes amid a sharp rise in drone warfare in the Russia Ukraine conflict.
According to the statement, approximately 6,500 one-way attack drones were launched by Russia against Ukraine in March 2026, an increase compared to February.
This escalation has intensified the demand for advanced drone capabilities, with Ukraine relying increasingly on unmanned systems to detect threats, respond to attacks, and carry out counterstrikes.
Healey stated that UK is stepping up to support in what he described as the fifth year of Russia’s war, and that the drone package would provide Ukraine with the tools needed to defend and respond to Russian aggression.
“In the fifth year of Putin’s brutal war, the UK is stepping up further and providing the highest ever number of drones for Ukraine this year,” added Healey.

UK Defense Strategy, Industry Boost, and Allied Coordination
Beyond the battlefield impact, the drone package is also expected to benefit the UK defense sector.
Majority of funding will be spent with UK-based companies, including Tekever, Windracers, and Malloy Aeronautics, supporting domestic jobs and accelerating growth in the British drone industry.
The announcement is also tied to wider international coordination efforts.
Today’s announcement adds to the UK’s recent £500 million air defense package announced in February at the Ukraine Defense Contact Group at NATO headquarters in Brussels.
Earlier package, unveiled at the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting in Brussels, included £150 million for NATO’s Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative to speed up delivery of air defense interceptors, alongside more than 1,000 Lightweight Multirole Missiles manufactured in Belfast.
It also supported a £390 million agreement to deepen industrial cooperation between the UK and Ukrainian defense sectors, including the transfer of production capabilities for air defense systems.
