Moja Expressway Company has dismissed circulating claims that the Nairobi Expressway CBD access will be closed due to political processions.
In a statement on August 21, 2025, Moja Expressway clarified that it is not affiliated with, nor does it authorise, any closure of the expressway due to political events, specifically referring to the unplanned procession by supporters of the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, as stated in the fake notice.
“Please note that the poster making rounds on social media suggesting the closure of the Nairobi Expressway CBD access is fake,” read the notice.
“Moja Expressway Company is not affiliated with either, nor does it authorize the closure of the Nairobi Expressway due to political processions.”
Additionally, the company stated that all official road closure notices are shared only through the Moja Expressway Company’s verified social media platforms, with appropriate safety measures to protect motorists.
Members of the public have been urged to refrain from spreading false information further and to direct any enquiries to the company’s service hotline at 0111039777.
“Thank you for choosing the Nairobi Expressway,” the statement concluded.
