Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has claimed that the majority of political seats in Nairobi have been handed over to his DCP party by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during a church service at P.C.E.A. Kariobangi North, Berea Parish Church in Nairobi on Sunday, November 29, the former DP revealed that they have reached an agreement with the Wiper leader.
“DCP is the party for Nairobi, and this is the foundation of our politics here in the city. We have agreed with the Wiper leader, who has been assisting ODM in Nairobi. We have agreed that the governor’s seat will be taken by DCP, the senator’s seat will be taken by DCP, and the women’s representative seat will also be taken by DCP,” Gachagua stated.
Besides DCP being allocated the Governor, Senator, and Woman Representative positions, Gachagua further revealed that out of the 17 Member of Parliament seats in Nairobi, he has agreed with Kalonzo that his DCP party will take 16 of them.

Additionally, the former Deputy President stated that out of the 85 wards in Nairobi, they have agreed that his party will be allocated 75 ward seats.
At the same time, Gachagua commented on the recently concluded by-elections held on Thursday, November 27, stating that his party did not lose as reported by the media and various political analysts. He insisted that in areas where he was portrayed as having lost, his party did not field any candidates.

He further noted that in Mbeere North, where he backed DP’s candidate Newton Karish, he believes the state interfered with the election outcome.
“And don’t worry about the Mbeere issue. DCP did not have a candidate in Mbeere. DCP had a candidate in Kariobangi North , we won; in Narok Town, we won; in Kisa East, we won. In Purko, we lost by a small margin, and in Magarini as well,” said Gachagua.

The DCP party leader said he is proud of what his party has achieved, having existed for only seven months and managed to secure three seats out of the five by-elections it participated in.
He urged political analysts to focus on these achievements instead of directing all their attention to the Mbeere North by-election.
