At least 27 casualties were reported following a head-on collision involving a Rembo Shuttle bus and a trailer at ACK Salama along Mombasa Road on the night of June 7, 2026.
The accident was reported by the Long-Distance Drivers and Conductors Association (LoDDCA), which issued an alert warning motorists to approach the area with caution as emergency response efforts continued at the scene.
“Head-on between Rembo shuttle bus and trailer at ACK Salama. Approach the area with caution,” LoDDCA cautioned.
Authorities and emergency teams remained at the scene as rescue operations and investigations into the cause of the crash got underway. Motorists were advised to exercise caution and expect possible traffic disruptions in the area.
Details Of Rembo Shuttle Deadly Night Crash
Images shared by the association from the crash site showed the heavily damaged Rembo shuttle bus next to a trailer carrying a blue CMA CGM shipping container.
Firefighters and other emergency responders are also seen attending to the incident.
The collision occurred near Syokimau, a busy section of Mombasa Road, a key transport corridor linking Nairobi to other parts of the country.
According to the Kenya Red Cross, 27 critically injured casualties were evacuated to Sultan Hamud Sub-County Hospital following the crash.
“27 critically injured casualties were evacuated to Sultan Hamud Sub-County Hospital following a major road traffic incident involving a truck, a bus, two private vehicles and a motorcycle at Salama on the Mombasa–Nairobi Highway last night,” the report confirmed.
The emergency response operation involved the Kenya Red Cross, county emergency services, the National Police Service and other partners, who worked together to rescue victims and provide medical assistance.

Emergency teams remained on the ground managing the aftermath of the accident, with injured survivors receiving urgent treatment at the hospital.
ACK Salama Location
ACK Salama is situated along the A109 Mombasa Highway, about 85 kilometers from Nairobi towards Mombasa.
The facility is located just before the town of Salama in Machakos County and occupies more than 100 acres.
It lies off the Nairobi–Mombasa highway, near Konza Technopolis City.
The site is approximately 2.1 kilometers from the nearby OK area, making it a notable landmark along the busy transport corridor.
Rembo Shuttle Sacco – Key Details
Rembo Shuttle Sacco is based in Kajiado County, with its head office located at Red Heron Centre along Nairobi–Namanga Road in Kitengela and it provides public transport and bus services in Kenya.
The company primarily serves commuters traveling between Kitengela and Nairobi, operating along one of the country’s busiest public transport corridors.

In 2024, Rembo Shuttle expanded its fleet by acquiring 24 electric buses from the Kenyan electric-vehicle manufacturer BasiGo. Each bus was reported to cost approximately KSh8 million.
The electric buses have a capacity of 54 passengers, including 36 seated and 18 standing, and were introduced as part of the Sacco’s efforts to adopt cleaner transport solutions.
Rembo Shuttle currently operates 30 electric buses, positioning the Sacco among the early adopters of electric public transport on the Kitengela–Nairobi route. The buses were designed and built by Kenyan vehicle manufacturer Identity Auto Fabricators.
Beyond passenger transport, the Sacco also provides courier and delivery services through matatu courier operations and its Doorstep Rider service.
