Seven prominent conservatives, including former Republican lawmakers, called for Vice President JD Vance and the Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove President Donald Trump from office.
The calls followed Trump’s social media post on April 7, 2026, in which he said a “whole civilization will die tonight” in Iran.
The 25th Amendment allows the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet to declare that the president is unable to discharge the duties of the office.
Conservative Calls for Removal
Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene posted on X: “25th Ammendment!!! Not a single bomb has dropped on America. We cannot kill an entire civilization. This is evil and madness.”

Conservative commentator Candace Owens wrote on X that the 25th Amendment needs to be invoked, calling Trump a “genocidal lunatic.”
Former Rep. Joe Walsh posted on X: “His Easter morning post. … 25th Amendment. Now.”
Other conservatives who made similar calls include former Rep. Adam Kinzinger, right-wing media figure Alex Jones, former White House counsel Ty Cobb and Scott McConnell, founding editor of The American Conservative magazine.
The list reflects divisions inside the Republican Party over Trump’s handling of the Iran conflict.
Trump posted on Truth Social: “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will.” He added that regime change could lead to something positive.
The post came before an 8 p.m. ET deadline Trump set for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face further strikes on infrastructure.
Cuba Responds to Potential US Action
Separately, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel revealed in an interview that Cuba would fight back if the United States launches military action against the island.

Díaz-Canel said Cuba prefers dialogue and peace but would defend itself “with the participation of all the people” in a guerrilla-style campaign. He warned that any U.S. attack would result in “immense losses” for both countries.
Trump has suggested Cuba could be a target after the Iran operation.
Vice President Vance said Tuesday morning that the United States has largely accomplished its military objectives in Iran and expects the conflict to end shortly.
Why this matters
Trump’s statements and the military actions in Iran have raised questions about stability in U.S. foreign policy and the limits of presidential power during conflict.
The 25th Amendment has never been used to remove a president, and its use would require action from Trump’s own vice president and Cabinet.
The calls from conservatives add to pressure on the administration at a time when the U.S. is involved in active military operations abroad and faces warnings from other nations like Cuba.
