The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has summoned 30 individuals over the Portland Cement land dispute in Athi River.
In a statement on Tuesday, October 17, the directorate stated that the individuals had information that would assist with investigations into the matter.
Further, DCI noted that it had received credible information indicating that some of the individuals being evicted from the Mavoko land in question were innocent buyers who fell victim to fraudsters.
The Directorate asked the named individuals to report to their headquarters by 8:00am on Wednesday, October 16.
“These individuals are hereby directed to report to the Officer In-Charge of the Land Fraud Investigations Unit at DCI Headquarters tomorrow, October 18, 2023, at 8am.
“There is credible information indicating that some of the individuals being evicted from the land in question are innocent buyers who fell victim to fraudsters,” DCI stated.

Individuals Listed by DCI over Mavoko Land
Mavoko Member of Parliament (MP) Makau Patrick King’ola was the first on the list followed by Julius Mutie Mutua who DCI noted was the Chairman, Aimi Ma Lukenya Society.
Further, other leaders of the Aimi Ma Lukenya Society summoned by DCI included Pascal Kiseli Basilio Mungui who served as the treasurer and Alex Kyalo Mutemi who served as the secretary.
Also directed to appear before the directorate is Jonathan Mutisya Muinde who is the organizing secretary of the Aimi Ma Lukenya Society, Mutua Kathungu, Wilson Munguti, and all members of Kitanda na Mbusya Society.
Additionally, Ben Muemi, Omar Shurie, Ben Mulei, Nicodemus Mulei, Anthony Muthoka, Titus Munywoki, Chris Ougo and Philip Kilonzo were summoned to appear before the DCI.

Others include the directors of Nyambogi Society, former Mavoko Deputy County Commissioner Charles Wambugu, former Mavoko Deputy County Commissioner David Juma, and former Mavoko Deputy County Commissioner Geoffrey Omondi.
Former County Officials added to the list also include former Mavoko OCPDs Kizito Mutoro, Sharma Wario, Samuel Mukuusi,
Former DCIOs included Joseph Mumira, Martin Korongo, and Vincent Kipkorir.
At the same time, Athi River chief Ceceilia Mbete Nzioka, Registrar of Lands Charles Kipkirui Ngetich, S.C Njoroge and G.G Gachini were summoned.
Setting Camp in Mavoko
Apart from the summons, DCI stated that it had established desks at the Athi River Police Station to collect relevant information and evidence that will aid in the investigations.
“We kindly request the affected members of the public to report to the Athi River Police Station immediately, carrying along any documentation or evidence in their possession.
“It will aid in apprehending the land fraudsters, especially evidence of payments made to individuals who sold them land,” noted the directorate.
Sale of Mavoko Land
The move came hours after Portland Cement invited the affected residents to purchase parcels of land within the area.
However, Portland stated that those who were being evicted ought to state their claim on the land within the following 14 days otherwise the land would be sold to interested members of the public.
“First and preferential priority shall be offered to the parties currently occupying sections of the said parcels. Those in this kind of situation are advised to state their claim of the same within 14 days from the date of this notice,” the notice read in part.
