Former assistant Transport Minister and ex-Bomachoge Member of Parliament Simon Ogari is dead.
Ogari has passed away at the age of 68. According to his family, Ogari succumbed to a long illness while at his Karen home in Nairobi.
Kisii County Senator Richard Onyonka has mourned the former MP, hailing him as a selfless man who was simple.
“It is with great sorrow that I learn of the passing of Hon. Simon Ogari, Former MP for Bomachoge. He was a polite, kind, and selfless man who was simple to a fault.
“Besides being a good leader and colleague, he was my personal friend for many years. He was a good man whom I will personally miss in his death,” he stated.
Further, Onyonka stated that the contributions of the former MP to the Kisii community will not be forgotten.
“His legacy of dedicated service to the people of Bomachoge in the 10th and Bomachoge Chache in the 11th Parliaments will remain a guiding example for all of us in leadership.
“May his soul find eternal rest, and may we draw strength from his life of service.”

Career of the Former Assistant Minister
Simon Ogari served in the 10th and 11th parliaments between 2008 and 2017. He was installed as the assistant transport minister in October 2010.
In February 2018, he served as a member of parliament for the Bomachoge Chache Constituency until March 2013.
Also, he was the Assistant Minister of Information and Communication between March 2012 and March 2013.
He was an environmental expert at the National Environmental Management Agency, a member of the Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK), a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Kenya chapter), and the Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Kenya (IQSK).

Educational History
Ogari attained his Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) at Mesabakwa and Nyansara Primary School between 1964 and 1970.
In 1971, he joined Cardinal Otunga High School for his secondary school education and got his ‘O’ Level Certificate and ‘A’ Level Certificate.
Later, he joined the University of Nairobi, pursuing an undergraduate degree in Quantity Surveying. He graduated in 1980.
In 2005, the former minister successfully sat for examination at the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Kenya Chapter.
Moreover, in 2007, he began his master’s Master of Environmental Planning and Management at the University of Nairobi.
