A Kenyan police officer who is part of the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS) in Haiti has been rushed to the hospital.
In a statement, MSS Spokesperson Jack Ombaka said the officer sustained injuries during an operation on March 18, 2025.

Ombaka said the officer was rushed to the hospital and is currently in a stable condition.
“Today, Tuesday, 18th March 2025, a member of the MSS Kenyan contingent was injured while conducting a security operation in Kenscoff, within the Belot area. The officer was promptly evacuated to ASPEN Level 2 Hospital, where he is receiving medical attention and is in stable condition,” reads part of the statement.

MSS has thanked Haitians and other concerned individuals who have wished the officer as quick recovery.
Ombaka said the MSS will provide updates regarding the officer’s recovery through the verified social media accounts.

He explained that the Mission is currently undertaking a critical phase of the operation in Haiti and thanked Haitians for their cooperation.
“We extend our gratitude to all Haitians of goodwill and others who have expressed their wishes for a swift recovery. We will continue to provide updates through our official social media channels as necessary,” adds another part of the statement.
“I sincerely thank you all for your unwavering support and cooperation as we engage in this decisive phase of operations against criminal elements.”
Kenyan Police Officer Killed in Haiti
This comes a month after the death of a Kenyan police officer who was killed in an operation.
MSS Force Commander Godfrey Otunge said the officer who was later identified as Samuel Tompoi Kaetuai died on February 23 while receiving treatment at Aspen Level 2 Hospital.
Otunge said the officer was injured during an operation at Pont Sonde, in the Artibonite department.
The officer was evacuated to LEVEL 2 hospital at LSA 1 where He succumbed to injuries.

Samuel’s body arrived in Kenya on March 10, 2025, and was received at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) by the Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service Gilbert Masengeli.
The body was then transferred to Chiromo Mortuary for preservation as burial arrangements continue.
Inspector General of the National Police Service Douglas Kanja led senior officers in visiting and condoling with the family and friends of Kaetuai.
Kanja and the team visited the family at Naserian Village, Kajiado East Sub-County, Kajiado County, as they mourned his demise.

Kenya Sends More Police
Kenya deployed the first contingent of 400 officers in June 2024 as part of a U.N.-backed multinational mission to address gang violence.
Subsequently, in January 2025, an additional 217 officers were deployed, bringing the total number of Kenyan personnel to around 617.
The officers were from the Rapid Deployment Unit, along with specialized teams, including medical personnel, mechanics, and communications experts.
