President William Ruto has dished out millions of shillings to support youth empowerment initiatives and programs.
Speaking during an empowerment programme at State House on August 9, 2025, he announced that 100,000 young people will each receive Ksh150,000.
“I have said that 100,000 young people will each receive KSh150,000, and 90,000 of them will also be given money after completing six months of craft training,” Ruto said.
He added that 90,000 beneficiaries will also be given additional funds upon completing six months of training in various crafts and skills.
Ruto Dishes Millions to Youth During Empowerment Drive
In pictures shared by President Ruto, washing machines, water tanks, motorbikes, and PA systems could be seen, items set to be given to beneficiaries in the informal sector.
Youth who attended began receiving M-PESA messages confirming deposits of Ksh2,000 each. They were also issued chairs, tents, sewing machines, and other equipment.
He added that, through networks and ICT hubs, the government has enabled youth to work in digital jobs, noting that 180,000 young people are already engaged through ICT hubs and Jitume Labs.
“Every Hustle Matters. Empowering People. Transforming Lives. Changing the City,” Ruto wrote.
The empowerment programme was attended by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, along with several politicians and Kenyan artists, including Toxic Lyrikali and Kelvin Bahati.

Empowerment Drive
The programme has been running nationwide, with President Ruto’s aide led by the deputy President Kithure Kindiki splashing millions of shillings on youth and women.
According to Kindiki, the programme is running to improve the lives of youth, women, and vulnerable groups by providing economic support, essential amenities, and job opportunities.
Additionally, he dismissed those opposed to the efforts, saying they should learn to support those in need to be uplifted and stop being selfish.
During the event held on June 6, 2025, in Kapseret, the leaders led by Oscar Sudi stepped forward one by one, each holding bundles of cash to demonstrate their support for the initiative.

Sudi revealed that he and three of his friends from Tanzania raised Ksh45 million to purchase equipment to support local businesses.
President William Ruto led the way with a personal donation of Ksh 2 million while Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot contributed Ksh 500,000.
On his part, Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet offered Ksh 300,000 in support of the initiative.
National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah added Ksh1 million to the effort, and Nominated MP Sabina Chege gave Ksh 200,000.
At the same time, Jonathan Bii contributed Ksh 1 million.
