President William Ruto has issued a warning to Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna over his position and status in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), reminding him that he is among the founders of the party.
Speaking during the burial ceremony of George Nyang’ira Oduor in Siaya, President Ruto cautioned the senator to exercise restraint while making remarks about him and ODM.

“I was one of the founding members of ODM. If necessary, I can convene a meeting of all founders to take disciplinary action against you,” he said.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the broad-based government has played a key role in promoting inclusivity and eliminating tribalism in national leadership.

Ruto was responding to the Nairobi Senator after his remarks asserting that he was the Secretary General of ODM.
Sifuna Remarks to Ruto and Junet
While addressing mourners, Sifuna asked the executive to ensure all political parties get their share of the political parties fund as provided for in the law.

“I have received budget cuts to our political parties amounting to as much as 42%. I recall that we signed a memorandum of agreement with the United Democratic Alliance, committing to fair and equitable budget allocation to all political parties,” he said.
Senator Sifuna also revisited the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between ODM and UDA, stating that the two parties agreed to actualize allocation of Ksh 450 billion in revenue share to counties.

In addition, Senator Edwin Sifuna reminded Junet Mohamed that he is the Secretary General of the ODM party, and as such, his office deserves respect.
Sifuna also alleged that certain individuals within President Ruto’s government are intentionally working to sabotage his efforts and make his work difficult.
He cited the chaos that erupted during the Butere Girls’ drama performance as a clear act of sabotage.

Ruto Praises Raila
“The man I have supported all my life at a particular moment become my competitor, however in the end, he has become a pillar in my leadership,” Ruto said.
He praised the ODM party leader for putting aside personal differences and agreeing to form a broad-based government.
In his remarks, Ruto called for the need for fair budget allocation, free from favoritism, to foster inclusivity and equity.
