Nairobi residents are set to pay more for water and sewerage services if a proposal by the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) seeking to review the tariffs upwards is approved.
The Nairobi water company, on Thursday, November 27, explained that the move to increase the price of water and sewerage services is part of measures to meet its obligations and enable the water utility to operate at full cost recovery.
The company noted that it has already sent the proposed change to the water tariff structure in a notice dated November 25, 2025, to the Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB), which serves as the regulatory authority.
“Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company Ltd (NCWSC), which provides water services by authority of a license issued by WASREB, has applied to the Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB) for a regular tariff review,” read part of the statement by NWSC.
