Kitui Governor Dr Julius Malombe has accused former governor Charity Ngilu, of overseeing bad administration of the county over the last five years.
While speaking during his inaugural address of the third County Assembly of Kitui, Malombe claimed that Charity Ngilu had left the county in a terrible state.
“In the last five years, no tangible and visible development has been undertaken to meaningfully uplift our people’s livelihoods. We have inherited a sad state of affairs,” Malombe told the House.
According to the Kitui governor, the devolved unit suffered skewed and unequal development, runaway corruption, relentless lack of drugs in hospitals, water scarcity, dilapidated road network, pending bills which he said had accumulated to Ksh. 2.445 Billion, and staff salary delays.
“The former regime oversaw apparent misguided investments, coupled with poor and inept management of county entities such as the ballast crusher at Kwa Kilui in Yatta/Kwa Vonza ward, the Kitui County Textile Centre (KICOTEC), Kitui Food Industry, the Kitui Pharma Industry, Kitui Youth Industry in Manyenyoni and Livestock Transportation Trucks, among others,” stated Malombe.
Furthermore, Governor Malombe urged the county assembly to work closely with his administration to reclaim and restore the county’s public service delivery.
“We have to devise ways of addressing the inherent challenges and turn around the fortunes of our county,” Malombe noted.
