Renowned singer and songwriter Ethan Edwards Okoth popularly recognized as Ethan Muziki has announced why he officially changed his stage name to Kethan.

In a statement on April 24, the R&Bs singer announced the change expressing the desire for his identity to harmonize more closely with his artistic expression.

“Today, I’m excited to announce that I will be transitioning to a new artist name: Kethan,” the statement read in part.

“Over the past few months, I’ve been reflecting deeply on my journey as a musician and the identity I want to embody through my art.”

Kethan while acknowledging his fondness for the name Ethan, however stated that his decision stemmed from recognizing the importance of a unique name in shaping his success on both a continentally and globally scale.

He further said his “new name” is a representation of his persona as an artist and one who strives to create music that resonates with authenticity and emotion.

The Name Kethan

“Kethan represents a deeper part of who I am as an artist someone who is constantly evolving, experimenting, and striving to create music that resonates with authenticity and emotion,” he said.

Moreover, he attributed the change to embracing his uniqueness and thanked his fans for supporting and encouraging him throughout his journey.

Ethan further acknowledged that while taking huge leaps in his career might be difficult to comprehend initially, he is always bold, adding that the leap will ultimately propel him forward.

Finally, he conveyed his confidence and excitement to start the new chapter, expressing gratitude towards his growing community also known as the Ethanals.

“Our community as Ethanals remains and is continuing to grow and I can’t thank you enough for being a part of my world. I’m deeply happy to share more of my soul with you through this new identity,” he concluded.

Ethan Muziki Musical Journey

Prior to his solo career, the musician was part of a band called Jadi and was signed by Kaka empire for two years.

However, in 2021, he left to start his solo career, a move he termed as scary as Covid – 19 was at its peak then and as a result many events were being cancelled.

One of Kethan’s most listened to song is Kesho Kutwa – a love song that describes the thought of intentionally choosing a partner.

He stated in a past interview that he was madly in love when writing the song and that it was inspired by the thought of wanting the same person every single day of one’s life.

Another popular song is Homabay described as a heart-felt ballad written in English, Swahili and Dholuo about wanting to take a loved one back home, not only to mean a physical residence but also referring to showing them the places and/or things that make one feel at home and wanting to share these experiences with them.
